*Warning!* Mentions of cheating, toxic dynamics, and questioning of self-worth.

I looked up at the night sky through my telescope, observing how the stars blinked and the galaxies swirled in the vast darkness of space. I took a step back, admiring the view with my own eyes.

The meteor shower should happen any moment now. I thought back to the last one I saw nearly two decades ago. I was only around 8 years old. Despite being so long ago, I still vividly remember the array of green and orange flying across the sky. They were hypnotizing. Even though it only lasted a few minutes it felt like I had been staring up for hours.

This love sparked a deep fascination with space and all the different kinds of beautiful phenomena it has to offer.  I can imagine myself walking up on my ship to a stunning array of sparkling colors every day.

My parents aren't too keen on the whole "travel and explore" part. As pink Kree, we have a lot to worry about.

Most of the blue Kree that are left don't like us pink Kree and view us as inferior. Many, including my family, have been exiled. Even though their racist views have somewhat declined over the years, many of whom have already left do not want to return.

Finding a new home has been difficult. Some time ago the Kree Supreme Intelligence tried expanding their control onto other planets. Wars have been fought and lives have been lost on all ends. There are planets where the residents hate us because of the destruction. Plus there are plenty more, like the Skrulls, who tried to fight back.

Luckily my family found this planet where pink Kree refugees were welcomed. We even set up our own little neighborhoods. According to my parents, they were among the first to travel here, and over the course of hundreds of years, hundreds more followed.

Not to mention I also have a 7th sense that allows me to have visions and glimpses into the future. This is an ability only a small portion of female Kree possess and it is different for everyone. No other Kree I come into contact with will have the exact same power as me, it may be similar but the power level and how it works will differ. I've heard stories of Krees who could read minds, move and manipulate objects or elements with just a thought, and even brainwash or drain life forces like nothing. Abilities many would love to get their hands on.

An array of colors raced across the sky from left to right. I quickly leaned back in, re-positioning my telescope and setting the attached camera to rapidly take as many pictures as possible. I zoomed in on one of the hurdling rocks, the spectrum of colors becoming more visible near the core as most of the material burned out as it reached the tail and became one with our atmosphere. I couldn't help but let out a tear, it was beautiful. I was so entranced that I didn't even hear the footsteps creep up behind me.

"Damn, even though I've seen a plethora of these in my lifetime they never get old."

I whipped my head around, my eyes locking with my dad's. My eyes wandered to the steaming caffeine-free tea he was holding in his hands. Having noticed this, he smiled at me and handed me one of the mugs. I immediately took a sip and turned my attention back to the meteor shower.

"How could you ever get tired of looking at something so beautiful?" I asked.

He took a drink of his tea as if pondering his answer. "Well, some feel like if they've experienced it multiple times it loses its magic. That it's not that special anymore."

I look around at the neighboring homes, noticing that we were the only ones outside appreciating the event. I lowered my eyebrows in frustration.

"Their loss I guess," I said while returning my gaze to the sky and taking another sip of tea.
