"We have breaking news. There's a complete lockdown at the GRC meeting in lower Manhattan where authorities are saying they're tracking multiple threats from groups seeking to stop the GRC's vote on global resettlement. There is a no-fly zone in effect and the NYPD has the area secured for the moment. Everyone is urged to stay clear." The police radio announced.
"You hear that guys? They already started." I said.
"I'm almost there." Sam cut in. "You guys in position?"
"I'm out back. Bucky, you upfront?"
"I'm here. What's the plan?"
"Karli's gotta be close," Sam warned. "Keep your eyes open."
"Anybody could be with her," I added. "She's been taking new recruits."
"That's why I said keep your eyes open. Oh, and by the way, I called in some backup."
"Excuse me, Sir, are you supposed to be here?" A man came through the coms.
"Sharon, what the hell are you doing here?" Bucky said.
"Relax, no one's looking for me here." Sharon pushed.
"Do I hear Sharon?" Sam asked.
"Unfortunately." Bucky scoffed.
"Hey, Sharon." I greeted.
"Hey guys, thought we'd get the band back together," Sharon said.
"Thank you. You're risking a lot coming here." Sam thanked.
"I hear pardons aren't all they're cracked up to be."
"Depends on the therapist," Bucky added.
"They'll move on the building soon, be ready," Sam warned.
I approached the barricade the officers had set up. I was in full Moon Goddess attire, mask, and all. The officers looked at me confused but moved out of my way regardless. I was extremely nervous, I had no idea how this was going to end.
All I could do was wait.
I watched as Sam flew through a window. I scanned through all of the rooms and saw that the flag smashers had gassed the main room where all the council members were. I saw several heat signatures scramble, trying to get out of the room and funnel toward an exit.
"Bucky, Elara, Sharon, what's happening on your end?" Sam came through.
"Nothing, absolutely nothing back here," I replied. "It's quiet."
"No one is moving towards the building," Sharon added.
"That must be why she gassed the building," I said. "Karli is not coming in, she's trying to force everybody out."
"Copy that. If she plans to spread them out and attack them then we-" Sam ordered. I heard static come through on his end.
"Sam?" I asked. "Sam?"
"He's not responding," Sharon said.
"I'm going up. You guys keep everything locked down out here. Sharon, do you think you can move towards my end?"
"On my way."
I rushed into the building and parkoured up the stairs. "Sam! Sam talk to me, where are you?"
"30th floor. Batroc is here."
"Don't worry, I'm coming!"
I was already on the 15th floor, only a couple of minutes and I would be there to help Sam.
