Chapter 5 Confined

It's been about a week since my talk with Dr. Zromatz and Dramik.

I had been moved from my metal table in the medical room to a cold and dark cell. The only light source leaking in from the hallway. Dramik and the other guard were constantly outside supervising me. Dr. Zromatz came by often to check on my shoulder, with little to no words exchanged.

I was recovering rather well so I guess that is a positive even though it just means I'm one step closer to being subject to experiments. In this environment, it was important to hold onto positivity rather than let all the negativity take over. At least that is what I am telling myself.

Same with shifting the blame.

Dramik tried as often as he could to bring me as much food and water as possible without getting caught. I quickly learned that if I tried to ask any questions he would leave me and give the resources to someone else, so I kept quiet and ate unless I saw that someone else needed it more than me. I found myself actually using my wedding ring for comfort, it was a reminder of what I used to have before it all went to shit.

I overhear frequent conversations around my cell. There were other Kree here, including a male blue Kree. There were surprisingly even Skrulls being held captive. I would occasionally hear them cuss out the guards only to be followed by a yelp of pain as they either got smacked or zapped. Many scientists would also walk by and talk about their experiments openly; how difficult the subject was being, what they had to do to the subject, what the results were, what they needed to do next, and what they had in store for me once I was approved by Dr. Zromatz. The guards often talked about the plans and ideas DRAKO had for the future. How General Folxex was going to lead them to victory and how Bombshell was the force to get them there.

Visions would often appear in my mind, a majority of them involved future experiments. Many matched the descriptions the scientists talked about; like me being attached to machines that monitored my brain and they would inflict painful electric shocks to my head, or I would be injected with various needles either stealing my bodily fluids or adding something to them.

I would often see the aftermath of other experiments as well. I would see people I didn't know being dragged back to their cells all beat to hell. I would hear their cries for help as they were being subjected to whatever it was that pained them. There was one in particular however that disturbed me the most, as I'm the only one who can hear it.

The same high-pitched wail echoed throughout my mind multiple times a day, always followed by a deep rumbling bellow. The sounds lasted for around 10-15 minutes at a time. I knew exactly where it was happening too, as images of a door labeled Lab 16 flashed in and out of my mind every time like I was being pulled to it.

Soon. My voice will join this hellish choir.

An immense rumble shook the entire floor, sending the guards into a silent panic as they gripped their guns harder. Across from my cell, the male blue Kree stood up as if getting ready to escape. I copied his actions. Unfortunately, nothing ever came from whatever made that ruckus.

"Z'cardan and Dramik, do you copy?" A voice asked through one of their radios. It was Folxex.

"Yes, everything is in order here, sir," Z'cardan answered.

"Excellent, I need you two to help escort project 803654311 from east wing containment to Lab 16 urgently."

"Right away General Folxex, in route to east wing containment now."

With that, we were left alone. Meaning we prisoners were given the rare chance to converse.

"Wonder what the hell that was that they had to call your two agents," It was the blue Kree. This was the first time I got to really look at him. His clothes were stained in his own blood. His face was still swollen from his beatings, his navy bruises contradicting his natural cerulean skin. His eyes were so dark I could barely make out his pupils.
