Once we were able to leave the plane I practically shoved my way to the front and sprinted towards the ramp. I earned a few curses in return but I could care less. I ran my way through the airport at inhuman speed which gained the attention of a lot of the other passengers. I followed the exit signs to the specific one Bucky told me to meet him at.
I burst through the doors and looked around, taxi cabs and other vehicles lined the curb ready to take passengers off to their hotels, homes, or wherever else they needed to go. I looked around for Bucky but any long-haired man I saw didn't look like him in the slightest. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and was about ready to call him when my eyes landed on a man in a navy sweatshirt and jeans. His hair was short and stubble lined his face. His tired steel blue eyes caught my gaze. He gave me a slight smile which quickly faded and he walked towards me.
"Hey." He greeted. I couldn't help but stare at him as he just looked so...defeated and tired with a pinch of anger mixed in there. He averted his eyes, clearly uncomfortable as he knew I was analyzing his well-being.
"You cut your hair." I finally spoke up with a smile on my face.
"It kept getting in my face, also it was a bitch to take care of."
"Looks good."
"Thanks." He said as he turned away and took a couple of steps further into the parking lot. "Come on. I know where Sam is."
"Where is he?" I asked while trying to keep up with his much longer strides.
"A military base not too far from here. We need to move quickly as he might leave soon for a mission."
"What's the mission?"
"No clue." We stepped up to a very sleek-looking motorcycle with a shiny navy blue coat on it. "I only have one helmet so you can have it, may be a bit big on you though."
"That's fine." I thanked him as I slid the helmet over my head and strapped it as tight as I could. He got on the bike and I sat down behind him, I wrapped my arms around his stomach as I knew it was going to be hell once he started the thing up. "So um... how's therapy going?" I asked.
He turned his head to look back at me, his expression was cold but I could make out pain in his eyes. "Peachy." He scoffed. He started up the bike, the engine roaring to life with a loud jolt. I had only just noticed but he had black leather gloves over both of his hands.
"Well, that's good," I said, unsure if he even heard me.
Why is he so hostile towards me? Is it because of what happened to Jasmine?
The bike started to move forward and we soon sped out of the airport parking lot, swerving in and between beeping and honking cars. We made it onto the main street and Bucky didn't bother to slow down. A heard a few police sirens go off but they quickly diminished as they lost sight of us in the heavy traffic. Soon we were out of the main city and just started cruising on an older road with not much traffic around. We maybe only passed a few cars out in this area.
He only started to slow down when we neared a gas station with a military truck at one of the pumps. A few soldiers who were standing around the pump talking stopped to look at us, eyeing Bucky specifically as they must have recognized him even though I had a hard time identifying him earlier. I got off the bike and took off the helmet, I set it gently on the ground as I rested my hands on my knees.
Bucky shot a cautious stare back at the soldiers and took a quick glance at me. A could make out a slightly apologetic look as he got out his card and inserted it into the pump. I guess if this was any time to apologize for earlier this was probably as good as any.
