Steve carried Jasmine's body bridal style into Tony's house. Her arm and cheek have barely healed despite her regeneration powers.
I followed Steve who was following Tony into a spare bedroom for Jasmine to rest. Steve gently placed her onto the bed. I wish I could say she looked at peace but I think it was the start of a nightmare. I saw one of her eyelids and the corner of her mouth barely begin to twitch.
Before she passed out she mentioned that she saw something. I wonder if that was what she was dreaming about right now. I would have to ask Bruce later if he experienced something similar.
"Thank you, Tony. For offering us a place to stay." I said.
"It's the least I could do for you and chameleon here. You are welcome to stay too, Steve. Bruce is also temporarily moving in the help me with her brainwashing when she wakes up. As well as build a new time machine so we can return the stones. You'd have to take the couch though."
"That's alright. I might grab a motel with Sam and Bucky."
"The nearest motel is miles down the road. I have a camper in the shed that we took camping a few times. You can pull it out into the yard."
"You're fine with Bucky staying here? You're acting awfully nice right now, are you feeling alright?" He joked.
"I'm just giving him a chance because I was hard on sleeping beauty over there...I'm still pissed he killed my mom though."
"It's not like you to have a change of heart."
"Shut up before I take back my offer."
"Thank you, Tony. We'll go set it up now if you don't mind."
"Have Pepper and Morgan supervise you guys, they know best."
Steve walked out of the room, leaving just me and Tony alone.
"You know, she's never liked sleeping on beds. She says she's not used to them so she chooses the floor instead." I smiled.
"Well, that frees up a bed then."
I let out a small laugh as I knew he was kidding.
"Can I tell you a secret? Just to get it off my chest." Tony asked. His expression changed entirely, instead of his normal sarcastic and cocky self he turned into something more serious and deep in thought.
"Of course."
"When we fought Thanos the first time. That Doctor guy told me that we only win 2 times out of 14,000,605 different outcomes. Even with the doctor's help, we of course lost the first time around... So, when I found out we had another chance I thought it was impossible given the odds. But then I figured out the time machine and everything else just fell into place... I secretly built a gauntlet into my suit and was prepared to use it if there was no other option."
"Tony, if you had used your gauntlet then you've-"
"When Thanos tossed me that final time, I saw Strange. He smiled at me and held up two fingers. I was going to steal the stones from under Thanos's nose while Jasmine distracted him...but when I saw that she had absorbed the power stone I knew we had won."
"If only Jasmine could hear you right now." I smiled, trying to crack a joke.
"I don't want you to tell anybody. I don't want anybody to find out what I was going to do, especially Pepper and Morgan. I also don't want Toothless the Nightfury over there to get a god complex."
"Your secret is safe with me."
"Good...I'm going to go and delete the hologram I made for my funeral."
