I woke up with a horrible pounding in my head. My eyes were struggling to focus as a bright light was stationed right over my face. I tried to move my arms to shield myself but found my limbs had been retrained to the cold metal table I was lying on. I tried to apply more force but found that my body was extremely sore.
I could make out what looked like to be an IV and body monitoring system to my side. Huge glass cabinets filled with medications lined the walls. Various medical tools were neatly organized in trays on the counters.
My heart began to race and I heard the monitor start to beep in response. I want to get up and run. I want to scream for help. I want to wake up from this nightmare and run into my parent's arms for comfort like I used to do when I was little. I want to hear their voices telling me everything is alright. I wanted to apologize for everything. But, I knew I would never get to hold them or speak to them ever again. It was all my fault.
It was my fault. I should've listened to Grandma. I should've left.
No. It was not my fault.
I didn't kill them, she did.
It's not my fault...right?
I couldn't help that I was born with this ability. It is not my fault I still don't fully understand it. The fault belongs to the ones who came after me. The one that killed my parents, along with others, with her bare hands. Her emotionless face appeared in my mind. I hated it. I want to kill her in the same way she did my parents. I want my face to be the last thing she'd see as she died by my hands.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard someone unlock the door. Two heavily armored Skrulls barged in and trapped me in between them. Their suits were more advanced but they still bore the same black base color with a white dragon skull across the chest. I couldn't see any expression under their pitch-black helmets, only my tired bright blue eyes looking back at me from the reflection on the glass. They were followed by another Skrull, this one was wearing a white lab coat with a shiny silver pin of the dragon head logo. He was on the older side in years, his face was much more wrinkly. His skin was a sage green color. His eyes were a faded shade of light purple.
"Glad to see you awake, Kai-Ness. I am Dr. Zromatz, and these two are my very good friends, Z'cardan and Dramik. I advise staying on their good side, though that may be hard as you killed some comrades of ours." He gestured towards their intimidating guns.
I couldn't think of anything witty or sarcastic to respond with so I let the silence speak for me. This seemed to have offended him.
"Throwing daggers are we? That's okay, I imagine you're still a bit out of it so I won't take it too personally. After all, I am the one who dressed your arm. Though I admit I didn't have to do much if it's one thing you Kree are good for it's healing. If any vital organs aren't damaged of course."
I couldn't help myself anymore, "It's your fault," I mumble.
This seemed to have poked his pride harder. He walked right up to me and leaned his head down right next to mine. His breath smelled horrible and his pointed teeth were a disgusting shade of yellow. "Excuse me, darling? I couldn't quite hear you, I need you to speak up." He hissed.
I mustered up even more strength, "I said, this is all your fault." I spat.
He let out a hardy laugh, "Mine? You were the one foolish enough to go hand to hand with Bombshell. Such an incredible specimen she is. Though I guess it's a good thing you are so young and naive. We would've had a lot more problems if you had mastered your ability. But don't worry darling, we can help you out with that. We are all working together for a good cause."
