"You made macaroni and cheese with bacon?" Macsen asked me as he was over at the apartment.

Mom had dropped him off and I'll be the one to drive him back home. Luckily, mine and Alex's place isn't that far from where the rest of my family lives. So that makes it easier for myself and for Alex too.

"I have nothing else to do at the moment. So I made a quick batch for lunch." I said and had begun setting the plates up with the food that I just made.

"Where's Alex?" Macsen asked.

"She had to go and have an interview at Target. She wants to start working so she has been able to find out that Target is hiring. She turned in an application a few days ago and now she is having her interview today." I explained and then began eating lunch.

"How is everything going over here?"

I shrugged. "It's going well. We're having fun. We've been trying to avoid having takeout. So we've been cooking dinner. I know that probably surprises you because usually when people move into a new place, they don't want to cook. But we have the freedom to cook since we had got more food from the grocery store. So we thought, why not?"

Macsen took a bite out of the mac and cheese. "I see what you mean."

"What about over there?" I asked. "How is the house going over there?"

"I've been spending more time with dad. Most of the time, Madison and MacKenzie are out doing some acting gigs so it just leaves me at the house with mom and dad. But dad has been keeping me busy with errands and we've been having fun too. At least that's what I think. Dinner is still good as well. I miss having you at the house."

"I know it's hard not having me around." I said.

"It's weird being the only boy in the house. I mean like kid wise. Like it's just, MacKenzie, Madison and I."

I nodded. "I know what you mean."

This mac and cheese is really good. I think I did a good job when making it and Macsen seems to enjoy it too.

"Can you pass on the recipe so that mom can make it at home?" Macsen asked, talking about the mac and cheese with bacon.

I laughed. "It's not that hard to make. I'm sure mom knows how to make it."

"People make the same things, very different. You should know this by now." Macsen reasoned.

"Such as?"

"Before, I would just have regular mac and cheese. But then I find out that other people will make their mac and cheese and then put the bread crumbs on top of it. That was all news to me. Some people like their mac and cheese really cheesy and some don't. This right here is really good. You get what I mean?" He asked.

"I can tell you the secret." I said.

He smiled over at me and then he came so that I could whisper to him. To be honest, it's not really a secret. The secret is to just add a bit more cheese. But I told him so that he knows what to do when he wants to eat this again.

"What else have you cooked since living here?" He asked.

I tried to remember our dinners the past few days. "We made chicken and rice a few days ago. Then just yesterday we made some stir fry with rice."

"Ooh, that sounds good." Macsen commented.

"If only we had leftovers, then I would've let you take some home with you." I said.
