Chapter 26

*Matt's P.O.V*

"Thank you, Jack." I smiled once he handed me the box.

"Please let me know how it goes. It was a pleasure working with you." He said and then shook my hand.

I nodded. "It was a pleasure to me as well."

Then after that, I left the store with the box in my hand.

It was a small, black velvet box. I opened and there it was.

The ring that I picked out for Alex.

So for a while, I've been thinking about proposing to Alex. We've been together for four years and I know I'm ready to take the next step.

I can tell that she was also ready to take the next step in our lives together.

Lately I've been having excuses to leave the apartment or any place just so that I can work on this proposal.

For days, I would look at different shops on what kind of things that I wanted to use. I went to a florist to make sure that I got the perfect flowers for this occasion.

I went days to find the perfect ring and I did find it today.

And if I'm honest, I felt bad for always not being around Alex as much the past few days but I want this to be perfect.

When Macsen's game ended earlier, I had to come back to the jewelry store so that I could work out the details on this ring.

When I say that Alex deserves the best, I mean it.

So now I'm on my way back home and it was late.

I would think that Alex is asleep by now.

The only person that knows about me proposing is myself. I made sure to not tell anyone because I wanted it to be a surprise for everyone.

This whole thing has to go perfectly.

As I'm driving home, I can't help but think about mine and Alex's future.

We'll be able to spend the rest of our lives together and also end up having kids and growing old together.

We've come a long way since the first time that we've texted each other on Instagram.

We've had some ups and downs with each other but that's normal.

Every couple has a fight or two in their relationship.

The fights that Alex and I have only makes us stronger and it lets us have a better understanding with each other.

We always work it out whenever we fight. We'll have a sit down talk and just figure out the problem and then it'll be okay right after.

I've learned a lot about this the past few years. At first, I had no clue what I was doing. But after a while, I'll be able to have a better understanding of it all.

It's sometimes all about perspective.

We're all growing.

After ten more minutes, I arrived at the house that we share.

I made sure that the velvet box was in the pocket of my jeans and then I got out of the car.

When making my way inside, I made sure to stay quiet because I'm sure that Alex is asleep.

But when I closed the door and locked it and then turned the lights on, I was surprised to see Alex there on the couch in the living room.

"Babe, what are you doing being up so late?" I asked her.
