Dally and Estelle, now back into the Babydoll persona, walked around town. While the duo seemed quite laid back and relaxed, the people around them were not. They attracted quite a lot of attention.

Now obviously no one knew that Babydoll, the infamously sly and powerful Greaser boy was actually the town's sweetheart Estelle, so it was shocking to see him and Dallas Winston walking side by side, seeming to be buddies while in the past they were rivals.

The Socs driving around in their muscle cars looking for trouble found them a few times, not being able to keep driving without some sly remarks and rude gestures.

The pair just laughed it off, it seemed so childish and unimportant looking back on everything.

They made it to a grocery store, making it out the door with nearly two and a half dozen eggs between them, putting some carefully in their pockets and hiding cartons under the large denim jackets.

"Where to now?" Babydoll asked mischieviously.

"Wherever you want," Dally replied.

She immediately thought of Cherry Valance, but decided against it. She needed to keep Cherry on her side, or at least not against her.

She heard the rumble of an engine behind them, and as she was turning she pulled an egg from her pocket. Dally had the same idea as her, and as the Socs slowed down to holler and gesture at them, they both cocked their arms back and threw the eggs, Dally hitting the red car on the windshield and Babydoll on the hood.

The pair howled with laughter as the Socs angrily accelerated and lurched forward, as they heard them scream things that were supposed to sound menacing.

"Dally we should run," Babydoll choked out as the car slowed back down by them.

"No, I can't with all these eggs," he replied.

She took several in her hands, throwing them all at once into the convertible. Dally did the same as they laughed at the now egg covered Socs.

"And now we run."

Dally sprinted towards the woods, and Babydoll ran right after him. She had always been faster than him, but now matched his speed, slowed down by pregnancy. But for now she could still run more than fast enough, as the Docs desperately jumped out of their car to run after them.

_____
They eventually lost the Socs, and made it over to the houses. She recognized a few cars in driveways from the drive in, so she targeted those houses specifically. She felt a bit bad when an egg went through a window, but it was too late to go back. Dally thought it was hilarious though.

Even though much of the tension between the Socs and Greasers had been resolved, it felt good to them to cause mischief without causing any real problems.

"Dally when we get back we better apologize to the Curtis' in advance, I wouldn't be surprised if the house is egged in the morning," she panted as they sprinted back to their territory.

_____
Hours later, they sat in the Dingo as Babydoll halfheartedly drank a milkshake while Dally ate both their meals.

"You're such a fucking pig."

That didn't get a reaction from Dally, he just kept eating like he hadn't in five years.

They sat across from each other in a booth while Greasers stared at the duo in disbelief.

Babydoll wanted to laugh as he heard rumors already starting to form about them, from them being queer to them secretly being siblings.

The facade started to slip as she felt Dally's leg touch hers. She then felt a hand on her knee, and it slowly started to creep up her thigh.

She was abruptly hit with memories of being locked in men's jail, as men grabbed her body and touched her, and her not being able to stop them no matter how hard she tried.

She froze, before kicking his leg away and pushing his hand off of her, temporarily forgetting who was touching her.

As she could get away, she did, so she jumped out of the booth and headed for the door without thinking about her actions. She couldn't. She just acted.

Dally was understandably confused. He ignored the people staring, and leapt up after her.

He made the mistake of grabbing her shoulder to get her attention, and she automatically punched him in the face, hard enough to leave a sizeable bruise.

"What is wrong with you?" He said, not knowing what to do.

She had crouched down there about a block from the Dingo, and seemed to be fairly unresponsive. She was staring intensely at nothing.

"Estelle?" He said, crouching next to her. "Hey? Can you hear me?"

She pressed the heels of her palms into her eyes and rubbed her eyes, seeing spots as she did so. She forced the memories back and reminded herself that it wasn't reality.

She forced herself to meet Dally's eyes. They held no hate or anger as they so often did, and now held mostly concern.

She took several deep breaths and put on a smile. "I'm okay, thank you," she said, standing up.

Dally reached a hand up to put behind her back, but she swatted it away. She just didn't want to be touched quite yet.

Dally shot her a look, and she sent him a slightly pleading one back, hoping that she didn't have to explain what was wrong right there.

"I'll tell you later?" She whispered.

"Fine. You'd better keep that promise, though," he grumbled.

_____
The mood was quite muted as they walked around in silence, before Estelle broke it.

"I can't help but think that today might be the last good day."

"Why?"

"That was the most fun we've had in so long. But the fun can't last. And even if nothing goes wrong, which it will, I'm gonna have to raise a kid. I'm gonna have to be a mother, a housewife. I'm not gonna get to go to the drive-in, or go out at night anymore. You'll still have that freedom. You're not tied down to me. And I know you like me but you don't care about me enough to give it all up for me and for us to play happy family. Face it. Us together, would be bad parents. I know you'll try to be around for a while, but you'll get tired of us. Of me. And you'll drift away again. And that leaves me to become a housewife. Just with no husband," she said bitterly.

Dally didn't answer. She was right. It was the truth. He didn't want this child. And even if he said he would stick around, which he hadn't really, they both knew he probably wouldn't.

He sighed, and ran a hand through his wispy blonde hair. "Look, doll-"

"Please don't call me that," she whispered,"

"Look, Essie, I'll try. I can't make promises, but I'll try and be there for you," he ground out.

She just stared at him, only halfway believing him. The distrust in her eyes hurt both of them.

"Don't say stuff that you can't mean," she whispered. "Just do what you can."
