Saturday was great. The seven of us laughed and drank. I got Ashton a new stool for when he's sitting at his drum set, hopefully making up for the fact that I completely missed his birthday.
Everyone woke up around the same time Sunday afternoon. Michael ordered pizza for our late lunch, early dinner. Calum didn't actually have enough beds for everybody. Him and Elizabeth slept in his room, Michael and Crystal slept on the pull out couch, Ashton slept in the recliner, and Luke and I made a pallet on the floor. Needless to say two out of seven slept good and the rest were sore. Me and Luke were sitting on the edge of that pallet, while Calum, Elizabeth, and Ashton sat on the couch, and Michael and Crystal sat across from each other on the floor.
"So when's your flight back to America?" Michael casually asked. I heard Elizabeth take a harsh deep breath. I knew she didn't like this topic. Frankly I didn't care for this topic either.
"This Tuesday," I informed them.
Everyone seemed kinda sad except for Luke who didn't hesitate to tell them the news, "but she's coming back."
"Yeah next may," Crystal huffed.
"No," he shook his head, "actually she's coming back sooner." All their heads popped up at the same time. They impatiently waited for more details.
"I'm gonna see if Daniel will let me move down here," the sentence came out awkwardly. It showed that I wasn't sure about this, but when I looked at Luke I knew this was where I needed to be.
"So like," Ashton looked between the group. He was looking for confirmation that he had heard us correctly, "you'll be living down here. Permanently?"
"Like going to school here?" Calum added.
"Staying with us?" Crystal beamed.
Luke squeezed my thigh underneath the coffee table. A comforting gesture that no one could see. "I'd like to," I nodded.
"What about all your friends in America?" Michael titled his head, "don't get me wrong I'm thrilled, but won't you miss them?"
"There's really nothing for me in America. All my family's here," memories of me and Benny clouded my mind. We've spent our entire lives together, and now I would be telling him goodbye. "Besides," I had to distract myself, "I'd miss all of you more. I mean I live for the weekly updates of, 'what color is Michael's hair?'" Even Michael laughed at my joke.
Me and Michael had a strange relationship. We didn't search each other out, or try to get to know each other. We just seemed to get along, and we're always catching each other in awkward situations. He was the person I would call if I was going to do something stupid. Somehow a friendship formed out of the madness.
"Michael won't have any hair if he doesn't start using the shampoo I got him," Crystal twisted his orange strands around her finger.
"Oh no. Not bald Michael," Elizabeth shook her head, "that's not it buddy."
"Shut up," he groaned.
"Hey at least you don't have a receding hairline," Ashton pushed his long curls back.
"Your hairline is fine Ashton. Hush!" I threw a pillow at him.
