BC. Never Gonna Be Alone

I stared at the pictures we took tonight. It's funny how quickly a person can blow something. I was angry with myself for telling her and  with her for no reason. I was expecting an answer when I didn't even ask a question. Clearly she hasn't had time to process what I was implying. Otherwise she would have said something.

Countless times I've typed up a happy birthday post for her on Instagram, and every time I've deleted it. Crystal had made a post about her, Elizabeth as well, hell even Calum wished her a happy birthday! They all seemed to have made the post effortlessly. Why couldn't I?

Was it because I didn't want Bridget to see it? At this point I didn't care what Bridget thought. Bridget treats me like shit, where Kaytlin is kind, Kaytlin listens, when Bridget could care less what I have to say, Kaytlin seems to understand, and she tries so hard to include me: most people don't. So why am I so mean to her?

Ashton had also made Kaytlin a post on Instagram. I couldn't bring myself to read it. Their closeness pissed me off, but I knew part of that was my fault too.

When I looked up from my phone everyone seemed to be doing their own thing. Michael and Crystal had run off somewhere, Calum and Elizabeth were making out, Ashton was the only one watching the movie, and Kaytlin seemed to be asleep on his chest.

I finished my drink before rising to my feet, catching everyone's attention. Ashton kissed the top of Kaytlin's head, "your sister's pretty cute Luke."

"She's not my sister," I bit my tongue realizing the argument wasn't worth it."I'll put her to bed," I reached down to take her from him, but she started to stir.

"I'm not asleep," her usual low, raspy voice had a bit of a slur to it. She opened her eyes and smiled at Ashton, "and you're pretty cute too."

"We should probably discuss sleeping arrangements," Elizabeth finally came up for air. Her lipstick was smeared over Calum's mouth. She was drunk though he seemed completely sober.

"I vote here," Kaytlin snuggled into Ashton's chest. Unlike Calum, Ashton is completely wasted. He tightened his grip around her, looking up at me. Sometimes I think he's trying to start a fight.

"Yeah, well that's not gonna happen. Last thing I need is for Daniel to come home and find you two all tangled up," supposably Ben was in charge, but my brother was nowhere to be seen.

"Crystal and Michael are gonna want their usual spot, I'll take the couch out here, that leaves you two," Ashton slowly sat Kaytlin up, brushing her hair out of her face.

"I'll bunk with Kaytlin," Elizabeth smiled. She kissed Calum goodnight, then grabbed Kaytlin's hand. They disappeared off to our bedroom, leaving the three of us in the living room.

"Guess I'm with you," Calum shrugged. He stood up looking himself over, "think I'll shower first."

"Could you help me clean up?" I pointed over my shoulder to the kitchen. I doubt Ashton could stand, yet alone be of any actual use. Plus I didn't really want his assistance.

"Just throw it all in my trunk," Ashton mumbled into the cushion. He pulled his car keys out and tossed them to me.

"I'll get the trash in here."

"Thanks Cal," I left him to sort through everything.

I grabbed the coolers out of the kitchen, dragging them outside. When I opened the door Micheal was standing there shirtless. We blinked at each other both a bit surprised.
