(PART TWO)

"Kaytlin wake up!" Benny shook the entire bed, "we're gonna be late for school."

I groaned into my pillow, "fuck school."

"Come on! We already ditched the first day. Now we have to go or they'll unenroll us," it has only been three weeks sense I left Australia, and things have gone completely upside down!

I hadn't heard from my mom, I hadn't heard from my dad, I hadn't heard from my siblings, I hadn't heard from my friends, and most importantly I haven't heard from Luke! It was as if they forgot about me. It didn't help that my phone completely crashed about three days ago and I had to get a new one.

Despite the incident in the park Benny let me have my old room back. Sadly I hadn't heard or seen anymore of Danny even though she was staying in the same apartment complex.

I rolled over, huffing, "I hate school."

Our school's dress code was reasonable: solid colored jeans, any non explicit t-shirt, and a belt. The only part that I truly despised was the fact that we had to tuck our shirts in. On the plus side I could always wear a jacket.

"It sucks we don't have any classes together," Benny griped. We were standing by our lockers, waiting for the first bell.

"You are a grade higher than me," I wasn't in the mood for conversation. This past week I've been nothing but a grouch. I was miserable!

"You get so grumpy when you're tired," he folded his arms over his chest, "is it too hot or something? Do you need a cuddle buddy?"

"It's not my fault I can't sleep," my insomnia was back. Technically it never left. Luke just brought me comfort. When he was around I could actually sleep, but he wasn't here.

"Drink your coffee," he scrolled through his phone, waiting for me to suddenly be in a better mood.

"Vanilla of hazelnut?"

"Hazelnut. Duh! It's your favorite," Benny scoffed. I didn't correct him. I just drank the hot beverage and suffered in silence. Luke would have gotten it right.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw bright red hair walking down the hallway. Closer examination revealed it was Danny. She must have transferred schools. "Isn't that your friend," I pointed across the hall.

"God," he griped, "what's she doing here?"

"Getting an education! Living the American dream! Yada, yada, yada. You should go talk to her," I crossed my legs, leaning against my locker. I went straight to my reading app. Unlike my contacts and photos I was able to get my social media back.

"Or I could talk to you?" He shrugged.

"Or you could talk to her," when he didn't move I yelled across the hall, "hey Danny!" The girl jumped, frantically looking around for who called her name. I waved her over, greeting her with a friendly, "good morning!"

"She gets a good morning and I get my head chopped off," I elbowed Benny. "Ow! Why are your elbows so pointy?" he glared at me, cracking a smile, "good morning Danny."
