My eyes bounced between the three boys. Jack was smiling, Ben was waiting on Jack, and Luke was on his phone. Three tall strangers who I have never met before in my life. Nor have I heard of for that matter! Two staring back at me as if they already knew me. One who's trying to come off as completely unfazed by my arrival, but is clearly annoyed by my presence. And that one, is the one I have to share a room with for three months! Not just a room, but bunk beds! We have bunk beds!
Can you see why I'm not amused?
This was insane! How could my dad put me in this situation with no warning? Him dating Liz didn't bother me, her having kids didn't bother me, but sharing a bedroom with a boy I didn't know bothered me quite a bit! Especially when I could have just as easily stayed with one of my brothers. How hard was it for me and Connor to bunk together? Or hell me and Bradly? What kind of sense did this make?
Did they even live here?
It was all overwhelming, and I bursted into a fit of laughter. All the boys gave me an odd look, including Luke who's heartbreak eyes actually found something other than their phone to focus on. damn those eyes. I covered my mouth, waving them off with my hand, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry." I caught my breath, "this is awkward. I imagine you have heard as much about me as I've heard about you." Absolutely nothing!
"Actually your brothers talk about you a lot. It's not ideal, but we can all get along!" Jack reassured me, "we're all pretty friendly."
"It's not ideal at all," Luke had climbed back onto his bed. He was so tall he didn't bother using the latter, literally pulling himself over the side. Flexing his arm muscles some. Cute boy doesn't make up for a shitty attitude. As of right now we don't like him! He rolled over on his stomach, taking another glance at me before getting back to his phone. I shivered when his eyes scanned my entire body. Creep!
"Luke," Ben scolded him.
"It's fine," I leaned against the window frame. "I couldn't imagine giving up your room for one with a stranger," my sarcastic tone only made things worse.
"It's not that," Jack tried to make me feel better.
Luke wasn't having it, "it's definitely that."
"Luke's grounded for the month. He'll be in better spirits as soon as he gets out the house," Jack continued, spilling all of his brother's business onto the table.
"Right," the information definitely sparked my curiosity, but I was in no position to ask Luke what happened.
"Friday nights we usually get pizza. They'll call for us when it's here. Come on Jack; let's get back to our room. We still have to put our beds together," Ben waved to me one last time before exiting.
Jack sighed, "we're the second room down if you need us."
"Thanks Jack," Jack seemed friendly given the circumstances. He was the friendliest out of the brothers at least.
Once they left I was able to actually look around the room. There was stuff everywhere! One could barely walk, so, logically, I created a path.
Come on Kaytlin! Small talk! Break the ice! Something! My eyes fell on the tv and everything surrounding it. "You're into video games," I made a small stack of different games on the table, "that's cool. I'm good at Wii games and Guitar Hero! Do you play those?" Luke didn't answer, but I found a few Guitar Heroes tossed carelessly in his mess, "I see you are."
