"Stop," I grumbled into the pillow, but the phone continued to vibrate. "Ugh," I sat up and grabbed the annoying device. The number wasn't saved in Luke's phone, so I sent it to voicemail.

"Ash?" I slid my hand over the empty sheets. The boy was gone. Luke's phone went off again and again I sent it to voicemail.

I tried to fall back asleep, but the phone kept going off. Aggregated I took a better look at the number and recognizing it immediately. "Why is he?" I shook my head and answered the phone, "what do you want Hemmings?"

"Well good morning to you too sunshine. Wake up!" Luke's loud voice made my head hurt.

"Why?" I put the phone on speaker and laid it on the pillow by my head.

"Mom and Daniel want you to come home."

"Wait why? Is something wrong?" suddenly I was wide awake.

"Nah! I'm on my way to pick you up now. Have you had breakfast yet?" Luke seemed to be in a good mood, so maybe everything was alright.

"Why are you picking me up? Crystal can take me home," there really wasn't a point in him coming to get me. Unless he just wanted to, which I doubt. It is Luke we're talking about here.

"Awe, does someone not want to see me? That hurts my feelings," I ignored his sarcasm and took him off speaker. I went to get my bag out of Crystal's room. Before I could open the door I heard a man verbally scolding someone. He was mad and yelling about something. "How far away are you?" it didn't take long for me to figure out the loud man was Crystal's dad.

"Now that's more like it. About ten minutes."

"Make it five," I hung up, knocking on the door as lightly as possible while still being heard over the conflict.

The door swung open. When her dad saw me he tried to compose himself, "yes?"

"I just need to grab my bag," I pointed towards my things on Crystal's dresser. The man stepped aside while I gathered everything.

I looked over at Crystal who had her arms folded over her chest. She was standing in the corner looking down. She had on Michael's shirt from last night and some shorts, but the hickeys on her neck weren't covered. In fact they were extremely noticeable. Her face was filled with angry tears.

"I'm sorry Kaytlin, you'll have to go home early. Crystal is grounded. Will your parents be able to get you, or should I give you a ride?" Her dad seemed like a very serious man. I found him very intimidating.

"My step brother's on his way. I'll see you later Crystal," I waved goodbye to my friend. I'll check on her once things cool down.

Given the situation I showed myself out. Luke pulled up while I was walking outside. He gave me a wave before investing his attention in my phone.

I climbed into his passenger seat and buckled myself in. I dropped my bag in the floor by my feet; Luke still had his nose buried in my phone, "enjoying yourself?"

"You should really put a password on this," he finished whatever he was doing before sliding  my phone in his pocket, "have fun?"
