"Then why haven't you sent it yet?"

The next two weeks went by incredibly quickly, and before you knew it, December was in full swing. The kids were bursting with excitement for Christmas break that was just around the corner. The Christmas spirit was high and they were all anticipating their plans for the break and their getaway from Hogwarts. It made you happy to hear their peppy chatter and their jitteriness for their well deserved break. You still weren't exactly sure what your plans were, considering that you weren't assigned to stay at Hogwarts over the break for the kids who were staying. You had other concerns on your mind though.
You still hadn't sent that damn letter.
You kept pushing it to the back of your mind, trying to avoid thinking about it. You were so nervous about seeing Sirius again, but if you didn't even send the letter to Remus, then it wouldn't happen regardless. You had to pull yourself together and send it before it was too late.
And Minerva hadn't failed to remind you of that.
"[Y/N], I understand that you have some reservations about this situation, but you need to get that letter sent sooner rather than later. Christmas is coming soon, and letters take longer during the holiday season." Minerva said to you, eyeing the parchment that was rolled and ready to be sent off.
"I know, I know. I just keeping forgetting about it." You lied, avoiding her gaze.
Minerva was sitting across from you in your office, both of you grading last minute assignments to clear your workload before the holiday break. You had given Luna the day off, taking on the grading for yourself. The office was warm due to the fire in the fireplace, battling against the brisk chill of the castle's halls.
For reasons you couldn't understand, Minerva requested for your weekly grading/catch up chat session to be in your office. Considering there were a few gaps you had yet to fill in from the day she told you that she knew about you and Severus, you supposed it made sense. Minerva was hounding you a bit, but you couldn't say that you blamed her.
"That's rubbish. You're stalling because you're scared." She replied, giving you a hard look from where she sat.
"I'm not scared!" You returned, a little offended at her statement.
"Then why haven't you sent it yet?" Minerva prompted, adding on with a softer tone when you didn't reply, "There's nothing to be afraid of. As long as you know your intentions going into it, then I think that you'll be perfectly fine. You don't want to miss your chance."
As far as you knew, you simply wanted to reconnect with Sirius to get some answers. You knew that he didn't betray James and Lily. You knew that there was no way that he'd ever do that. There had been some sort of horrible mistake that landed him in Azkaban. He went to Azkaban a month after their death, and had broken up with you a week after their death. It all just seemed so...suspicious.
But to get answers, you had to send the letter to Remus first.
Severus hadn't asked you about any of it. He didn't want to stick his nose into your business, but he also felt like it was his business. He was your current boyfriend, and you were meeting with your longtime ex-boyfriend. A man that he knew that you had felt strongly for was suddenly about to be reintroduced to your life, and it was still making him nervous.
"Okay, Minnie, okay. I'll send the letter before the end of the day." You promised her, hoping it'd shut her up.
"I'm going by The Owlery myself when I leave here. Would you like me to send it for you?" She offered, thinking it might take some of the intimidation off of you.
