Damian's POV
I wake up from my deep slumber as I feel something unusual around me like something is missing? Ahh.. The warmth and presence of a certain girl who I always find in my arms when I wake up.
I place my hand all over the bed but find it empty and cold. I open my eyes but she is nowhere to be found. Then my eyes land on the light illuminating through the closed washroom doors and there is the sound of a running shower coming from there.
I check my phone and it's only 5.30 am. Ever since we started living together, she has never woken up this early so not sure what's the reason today. I push myself up and turn on the small light that is by the bed.
Soon the door opens and she steps out with a single towel wrapped around her creamy body. She smiles at me when she finds me already awake.
"Good morning Rian." Is that all she is going to wish me today?
"Good morning, baby girl. How come you woke up so early today?" My voice is a little gruffy.
"I have a conference call with one of my delegates in an hour." She pouts and walks into the closet without sparing me a second glance. Does that mean she forgot what today is? She didn't say anything last night either.
She takes only about ten minutes and she is ready in her work clothes and of course no makeup. I keep watching her when she starts filling some stuff in her purse.
"Baby girl, do you know what date it is today?" I can't stop myself from feeling sad over the fact that she doesn't remember such an important day.
"Let me check but why do you ask?" She sounds genuinely curious.
"Check?" I ask in disbelief. Even though I don't want to remind her, I need my first wish from her so here I am trying to give her a hint.
"Fine. Check now and tell me." I groan.
"It's December 6th." She says in a nonchalant voice. I look at her with all the hurt that I am feeling right now but she ignores it. I know it's unintentional that she forgot about today but that fact is even more disappointing. How can she forget my birthday?
"Ok Rian I am leaving now. I will see you later." She says as she walks to me.
"I love you." She gives me a quick peek on my lips but her obliviousness is breaking my heart.
"Love you too." I mutter, lowly and turn away from her, not wanting to show her how hurt I am.
A minute or two later, I hear a door getting close and a room falls into a pin drop silence. I also close my eyes and try to sleep but my every effort is in vain so I decided to hit the gym till it's time to go to the office.

Finally the working day is over and now I am on my way home. Throughout the day, I got calls from all my friends and families and most of them even sent me gifts as well but she didn't call me even for once, not even over lunch which is our everyday thing unless one of us has something urgent to attend. I only got one message just an hour ago asking when I will be home but that's all. I have been sulking and frowning all day and couldn't smile when others were calling me. I am sure everyone noticed that but no one said anything.
I remember when we were kids, she would always stay at my place the night before my birthday so she could be the first one to wish me sharp at 12 AM. Since my grandparents wouldn't let us be up till that late, she would set up an alarm but she won't let anyone wish me a birthday before her, not even my grandparents. Then how could she forget today?
