~3rd Person POV~

Two Generations Prior

"You understand that once the ritual is complete, your fate is irreversible?"

The elders questioned as they held out the sacred dagger, its sharp blade shimmering in the golden light of the flaming forge. Slowly pulling back the navy hood of his cloak to unleash his dark blonde hair, Beta Noah of Kailea held the dagger in his left hand.

Suddenly wheezing with laughter in the serious moment as he paused. His companion Beta Remy, who joined Noah on the journey to the Lotus temple with the permission of their mates Alpha Mason and Lunos Tristan, glared at Noah with a slight kick to his shin.

"What? Isn't it ironic? For the god of fate to have an irreversible fate? That I can't just snap my fingers and keep my human life as well as my son," Noah chuckles with tears burning the brims of his deep blue eyes.

After predicting his son Waylon's early death, Noah had gone straight to the elders, unable to unlock his true power until the afterlife.

It was his life or Waylon's and its times like these where he closed his eyes and imagined what his own mother would do.

As difficult as it was, the answer was instant and he cuts his palm with the dagger to let his blood run.

Noah's eyes remained closed until he felt another hand fall over his.

"What are you doing?" Noah gasped as his mate's blood mixed with his and dripped to be enclosed in the enchanted ruby of the Crimson Alpha ring being forged with their protection.

"I'm not going to let you do this alone," Remy reassures him and Noah didn't know if he wanted to make fun of him or murder him for leaving Tristan and Mason by themselves.

"That's not how this works," Noah scoffs as an elder takes the blade and wipes it, the spell complete with their blood sealed within its glistening ruby.

"Then we'll make it work,"

Remy swears and the elders talk amongst themselves about this new celestial path the mated betas had taken together.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!"

I screamed for help as I ran straight through the woods, feeling the dark inevitable presence behind me, chasing me through the thick brush. Jumping above the bushes, my foot catches a vine, tripping me in the process as I fall into the dry leaves and turn my head to find the horrifying monster pursuing me.

The vision of Matteo had transformed into something much darker, with a demonic smirk and glowing red eyes as its long pitch-black hair covered half its face. When we made eye contact the monster stopped, just before rushing forward and I scrape at the dirt to pick myself back up. Unable to move my arms fast enough as I just barely have enough time to have a short lead.

The woods get thicker as I run without stopping, breathless as my feet took over. My petrified state numbing the pain that surrounded my previous injuries with every look over my shoulder bringing the demon closer.

I couldn't even muster a cry for help, too occupied with dodging the trees that seemed to get closer and closer making it harder for me to keep swiftly navigate in a moment's notice between each row.

I tripped and fell once more, except this time it was directly on my side. The insurmountable pain in my shoulders now coming to light in its overwhelming flash of pain that would have had me vomiting if there was anything in my stomach. The crunch of the demon's footsteps against the dry leaves were followed by the cracking of the trees brought down in its path.

A nightmare comes to life from my own imagination, I'm unable to pick myself back up with the amount of pain in my shoulders.

If this is how death comes, I pray he makes it swift.

The demon catches me, lifting me with one long tentacle-like arm by my neck and I can't even raise my arms to fight his vigorous choking.

I'm just able to bend my elbow, raising my hand to the arm and watch Galen's ring suddenly flicker, the red ruby at its center now glowing.

And suddenly I'm falling to the ground once more, gasping for air to return to my lungs as I crawled away from the arm that had been cut off the demon. S

lowly gazing up at the familiar face of the man who looked like a more masculine version of Micah.

Except instead of the white robes I saw him in last time, he wore a suit of golden armor, holding an enchanted sword with two hands as it glowed in the sunlight. The god stood directly in between myself and the demon, almost like the light protecting me from the dark. The demon took a step back but it wasn't long before the arm grew once again and the man ran towards me. Easily plucking me off the ground my shirt and pushing me forward with a hard shove.

"Keep running," He warns and even though my energy has been drained, I follow what he says and continue to run.

"Leave him alone Fuyuhiro! He has nothing to do with you!" The man argued with the demon and I could hear their battle with the god's sword hitting a tree, cracking it in half as I continued running like he said.

"My bloodline ended so Umiko's could continue!" The demon's voice roared and the man continued to argue.

"That was your own doing! Don't make me do this!"
"You can not kill me, who do you think you are?"
"Please my daughter, don't make me do this!"
"You wouldn't dare,"

"I am Anu the god of fate and I will do what I must,"

Suddenly an earthquake throws me off my feet to the ground and I'm nearly thrown into a shallow creek before my body floats above it. Drifting into the unfamiliar arms of someone who blurred as my vision quickly faded with the pain. The screaming of girls piercing my eardrums before silence finally took its course.
