~Elder Mason~

"No dad, you do it like this!"

I can hear my daughter Amara correcting her father on the porch from the comfort of my quiet meditation session. The incense lit in front of my prayer rug smelled of lavender and roses as I watched its slow burn into the air and inhaled. In my relaxed state, my eyes drift to the open windows where I could watch Ian as he had a picnic with our daughters.

My sweet mate is good at keeping the house quiet when I need to meditate as part of my sacred elder duties and for that I'm thankful. He's currently attempting to learn how to eat a tiny sandwich in a dainty way but gobbles it whole to the girl's obvious dismay making me chuckle at their disheartened relations.

"He's pretty fucking perfect if I do say so myself,"

My soul nearly leaves my body in fear when the familiar voice whispers in my ear as I jump back, clutching my poor heart as I try to catch my breath.

"My god Noah, if you keep pulling shit like this I'm going to join you in the spirit realm," I sigh as I catch my breath and Noah laughs. Taking his usual place beside me on the prayer rug as I groan.

"You already walk the line, what's a little shove?" He jokes and if I could physically touch him, I would shove him into the fireplace beside us. It's not like it would hurt him.

"I'm kidding! I know that look and I'm thankful to be on the other side, jeez," Noah chuckles and I roll my eyes, trying to get back into my relaxed state. But it's difficult with the godly spirit of my ex-husband beside me.

Ever since I became an Elder, I was able to see the spirit world of Kailea where Noah rules as the God Anu to protect the physical realm where the living reside. Sacredly blessed by Noah to walk that thin line to open a line of communication between the two.

I'm still not used to the subtle changes in Noah. Like the faint blue glow that surrounds him, the shiny golden armor, his eye color changing to dark shimmering bronze, and lastly his lack of scent.

"Where's Rem?" I ask and Noah shrugs.

"Off with Rowan in the Lotus woods, their usual date night," Noah smiles and I know the three of them are off living their happy life on the other side while I'm here with mine. Suddenly Ian tiptoes in and I eye him with a quiet smile as he tries his best not to disturb me. He can't see Noah, but he knows when I'm here I'm communicating with spirits like him.

He makes small eye contact from the kitchen and mouths a 'sorry' as he grabs the girl's more snacks and sneaks back out.

"He's cute, I picked him out you know," Noah says and I blink a few times to try to not act surprised.

"I was the one who ended your mated bond with Tris too. You can be mad at me, curse me if you want, but I saw the future and decided it was too soon for you to join me here," He confesses and I take a sharp burning breath.
