"CJ, where is your ring?"

I ask our youngest before gently smoothing out his tiny crimson blazer. The little gold metallic nameplate with his first name, 'Casper Jakob' , engraved in the beautiful swirls of Alohowa was slightly crooked, but I let it be. I can't help but wonder if one day there will be a third nameplate with Casper's name.

What am I doing? My baby is six years old, I can't think about grandchildren now when I won't have any for at least twelve more years...hopefully.

Unless they follow in my footsteps.

"I lost it,"

"Already? Baby, we talked about this,"

"It's okay, I don't want another one because I don't like stuff on my hands anyway,"

CJ signs and scrunches up his nose with his obvious distaste which is fair. I suppose his little hands are sensitive since they're his only method of communication. I sigh as I look him over one final time, brushing my hair behind my shoulders before kissing his cheek.

"Now it might be a little scary at first CJ. Not everyone is going to speak sign language. But you will always have your siblings okay? And Kiem is going to be in your class," I tell him, but he never showed any signs of being worried about going to school. In fact, he was beyond excited for this next stage in life. They all were, while I held onto my reservations about losing all five of our children at once to Antum's castle walls.

I know they'll be safe and together, but I don't know how I'll function without my active babies for six months, even with the twins coming next month.

"I'm not scared Onnie, do you think Caius is going to be there?" He signs and a sick feeling pools in the pit of my stomach, remembering that little boy who's the son of our combined mortal enemy, is going to be close to our baby. Caius is Matteo's son after all so Matteo must have taught him everything he knows and then some.

I can't fathom anyone hurting my baby like Matteo hurt Tora.

"CJ, what have we told you about prince Caius? Stay away from him. He's bad company," I remind him as he slips on his shiny black shoes and sits on the small plastic stool in his bedroom.

"Onnie, Mama wanted me to come tell you that you two have to get your booties downstairs cause it's time to go," Kiem mentions as he comes bursting through their bedroom door and quickly flattens himself to the floor.

"Okay kiddo, what are you looking for?" I ask and turn back to him and he reaches, grabbing a small plastic remote.

"Pierson's remote, otherwise he'll be out of control if I have to recall him. It's a work in progress," Kiem explains before rushing back out the door. I give CJ one final pat of his shoulders and kiss his neat light brown hair before letting him chase after Kiem. The sound of his little black shoes squeaking across the floor.
