"They're all so cute, how are you going to choose one? Can't we take them all,"
Micah coos as the three of us hovered over the outdoor enclosure containing seven of the cutest little silver labrador retriever puppies I've ever seen. Tora had his heart set on getting Galen a dog to keep him company, especially in the silent times when he likes to keep to himself. I had tried to convince him to get something like a german shepherd or a pit bull but he has his heart set on a goofy lab.
Tora crouches down as he looks through the pen to the curious little rainbow collared puppies. While most continued running and playing, the purple one and burgundy one stayed. Both little girls begging for Tora to pet them.
"It looks like it's between these two," Tora smiles as he scratches their little heads. Micah peeked over the fence and my hand gently pressed against her back as we watched tried to pick one.
"Let's take both," Micah suggests and Tora gives Micah a look.
"We can't love, maybe after Myah is born but this puppy is just for Galen," Tora reminds her and she pouts slightly with her arms crossed before looking at me.
"You think I'm going to go against him? I enjoy my life, thank you very much," I tell her and Micah rolls her eyes.
Tora suddenly slams his fists against the cage and the burgundy girl takes off running with the purple one remaining, sitting perfectly instead of running away.
"Looks like she's the one, hi baby girl," Tora coos as he picks up the little puppy by her front arms and cuddles her to his chest.
"Oh you chose Jae, she's the sweetest pup. Very calm and easy-going in comparison to her siblings," The small breeder Hector, explains as he gently scratches her head.
"Let me grab your going home bag for her and give you her vaccination records your Majesties," He says and we head inside his farmhouse and find Jae's paperwork. I handled the business side while Tora and Micah fell in love with little Jae. Soon enough we were back in Galen's truck and on our way to the hospital. I drove while Micah and Tora gave Jae all the attention in the back seat.
"I can't wait to see Galen's reaction, I'm sure he's going to love her," Tora's uncontained joy and hope makes me happy. I know he's trying his best with Galen, even after what I told him.
I just hope Galen sees it and doesn't do anything stupid that could ruin his happiness. Tora needs this after everything we've put him through. He deserves to be happy with all of us, not just two out of three.
"Of course, look at her! She's so cute, how could he resist this little face?" Micah gushes and the little puppy licks her hand with love and soft puppy whimpers.
"How did he sound when you talked to him?" Tora asked and I drove with one hand, relaxing as I try not to think too much about the ultimatum I have to give Galen sooner rather than later.
