Tora never asked to be a Lunos and he certainly didn't ask for three mates.

Magic.
That's what they always say it's supposed to feel like when you find your mate. The legend has it you find them at least once at the Anu ball, but out of all the men and women I danced with, I felt nothing.
Yet when the petals fall and my mate's scent rises, a darker woodsy leather scent travels through the crowd as I walk through the muddles rows of people, trying to find my soulmate. My heart racing while ducking and weaving through newly mated couples and the ones who already knew each other with tearful hellos.
For a second I was distracted by the alpha and betas of Crimson who looked like they were surrounding a single boy. Not watching where I was going, I accidentally find myself slamming right into someone. Shocked to the core when I do, I leaped back and gasped.
"I'm sorry," I quickly apologize and move on but a strong hand on my shoulder stops me.
"Where do you think you're going?" The guy asks and the scent is the strongest it's been, rolling off him in a way that has me thinking I must be hard of smelling for not knowing. Terrified by the power in his voice, I gaze up to find Jace of Crimson which only worsens my fears.
"Ah, uh nowhere. I-um hi?" Confused, I do a short little bow to which looks me up and down with those dark brown eyes before unleashing a deeply disappointed sigh.
Oh.
I'm not what he wanted.
I went into this ceremony so excited and open-minded, hoping for a mate that would sweep me off my feet like all the stories my mom use to tell me about when she met my Mama.
My heart squeezes as my cold mate's first hello is lackluster at best. Maybe he's just having a bad day or something happened.
"I suppose you'll have to do. Come on," Jace says without asking for my name or where I'm from as he pushes me towards the Crimson brothers and their mate. The four of them have the emotional encounter I dreamed of as I shy behind Jace like a quiet toddler.
Jace says something but I'm caught in triplets mate's confused gaze as the boy stares at me and I stare back. Finding our nearly identical similarities unsettling with the exception of his handsome darker red hair while mine is bright and couldn't pass for brown in the dark.
