"Did you hear about Quinn's party?" Ady asks as I pull into my usual parking spot.
"Yes I was there, looking for you," I replied dryly.
"No need to be all moody," she huffs, crossing her arms over her chest like a toddler not getting a toy.
"Lord," I whisper under my breath. Hungover Addy is not pleasant to be around.
I grab my book bag and so does Addy, we walk to the school in silence, both of us drinking our drinks, mine a fruit smoothie and hers an iced coffee.
"I'll see you at lunch," I say walking away from her.
I walk into my math class taking a seat in the back. I pull out my earbuds, pressing shuffle on one of my many playlists. The teacher starts talking about numbers and letters, I pay her no attention. The other students in her class have fallen asleep, must be nice.
The halls are crowded, they always are, people stop in the middle of the hall to talk to friends and others just don't walk fast enough. I make it to my next class just before the bell rings. Taking a seat I pull out my phone.
"Hey, your partners with Quinn right?" a blond girl asks, it's like everyone at this school is blond.
"Yeah." I look up from my phone.
"He is never going to go for you. No matter how much money you bribed, the person to put you together is not going to be together," she glares, making me realize she's not joking.
"I don't have time for you, him, or anyone bullshit," I smile a sickly sweet smile, "jealousy doesn't look good on you babe, it's ok better luck next time." I shrug my shoulders and pay her no more attention.
Lunch couldn't come fast enough. "Is it ok if Jacob comes to sit with us?" Addy asks from across the table, she looks sober now.
"Sure," I say and watch her quickly type a reply to Jacob.
A few seconds later Jacob is sitting right next to Adelyn and is speaking in hushed whispers.
She has a boyfriend, I want to scream at him.
I stand from the table needing to be somewhere else right now. I end up in front of the football coach's door. I knock but don't wait for his reply. I walk through the door to find some of the football guys sitting around a whiteboard with plays on it.
"Lily? Why are you here?" Coach Bradly asks.
"You guys can leave," I shoo the guys out the door and plop down in one of the chairs.
"Lily, you can't show up here like that."
"Too bad I'm here now, enjoy it before I die," I spread my arms out.
He moves to behind his desk, he rubs his temples.
"Can I coach practice today?" I ask out of the blue.
"You want to coach practice?"
"Anything for you kiddo." He gives in, sending me a loving smile.
I left his office and walked to my next class knowing the bell was going to ring any second but I didn't hurry.
