LTY II: Angel's Cry

Jeonghan was walking back and forth outside the private emergency room. He was anxious that he might have ended the life of an unborn child. Yanika saw him disoriented outside Sowon's room.

"Calm down. It's not going to help," Yanika said handing him a cup of hot chocolate. Jeonghan looked at Yanika with so much pain in his eyes before taking the cup. He can't believe that his wife's still there waiting for them. "Sit. Come here," Yanika urges him to seat beside her.

There was silence between them when Jeonghan took his seat. They both began sipping their hot cocoa and waited for the doctors. "I didn't know she's pregnant," Jeonghan muttered not believing in the situation.

"I know. You are not that heartless to do that to a pregnant woman, Han," Jeonghan's insides were bursting out in agony hearing that same word he has been longing for years. Jeonghan wanted to hug her tight but he couldn't do it anymore. He was thinking that he got Sowon pregnant and concluding in his mind that everything that happened was real but it feels so unreal for him.

I couldn't live my life like this, he thought.

"Do you hate me for that?" Jeonghan asked Yanika.

Yanika glanced at him and their eyes met. "Why would I? You look damn mad and that was freaking scary. That was the other you who did it," Yanika explained to Jeonghan making him comfortable yet regretful.

You are still the same. Caring, he again thought.

"Because she tried to harm your twins which I am confused why would she do it and why the heck on earth would you drop the case? That was unforgivable, Nika," Jeonghan told Yanika making her sigh deeply. "I can't forgive anyone who will try to hurt you and your twins," Yanika was confused why he was acting like that.

"Thank you, Han. I don't know if that's for our friendship but remember that you should prioritize your soon-to-be family. I am okay and I will be okay, you don't have to worry about me and my kids. Worry about her, she's just pregnant and fragile," Yanika informed Jeonghan which broke his heart when Yanika sounded so confident without him.

But it was just a month ago, I thought she wouldn't get pregnant, Jeonghan thought in his mind.

Then the doctor came out of the room. "How's she doc?" Yanika immediately stood up and asked her private doctor.

"For now, we were able to save the baby. However, her heartbeat is pretty weak. Ms. Kim has to stay here for a while to go under observation," the doctor told us.

The sigh of relief between Yanika and Jeonghan was noticeable. "Thank God," Yanika even uttered. "Thank you doc," Yanika told the doctor.

"You are always welcome Mr. and Mrs. Yoon," that awkward call from their godparent during their wedding in Seoul made them look at each other and gave the doctor an awkward smile.

"I'll take my leave. If you needed anything, don't be shy to call me," the doctor told them and walk away. "By the way, I hope I can see the little kids soon too. I mean I am expecting to check on Yanika to be here for an appointment for years now, Mr. Yoon," the doctor walks back and told the two who got startled by that comment.

They both chuckled gawkily, unconsciously nodding at their godparent.

"And we're doomed. You didn't tell them yet?" Yanika crossed arms and told Jeonghan.

"You agreed to the comment. You nodded, Nika," Jeonghan disputing with Yanika.

"Well, I guess we both malfunctioned in there," Yanika replied in which they laughed together like nothing bad happened.
