CHAPTER TWO

SIX YEARS LATER

 

“Father” I called out looking for my father, it was the first day of school again, and usually he would be the one to personally send me off.

“In here,” my father called out from his library. I knocked before entering, I may be princess but I have respect for my father’s privacy.

“I have to leave for school now or I’ll be late and I don’t want to be late on my first day.” I saw my father looking through some papers about Kevin. I hated that man and I wanted to see him dead personally.

 “Father, it’s been six years, he hasn’t even attacked California, he might be dead or something, we didn’t know his real age, he might have been like a hundred when he last attacked.”

“I’m just being-” my father got up from his chair and walked to me, but I cut his sentence. I knew what he was going to say, he has been saying the same thing every time I try to get him away from his table.

 “I know father, now come on, you have to send me to school, like you always do,” he nodded and we walked side by side. “The car is ready; I’ve told Alec to get it ready”

I have wanted to tell my father something and my mother too and I didn’t think I can hold it in anymore; I have to tell them someday but not today.

The drive to school was about half an hour, I saw my friends standing near the entrance as we reached the drive off zone. I saw Uriel get of his car and my heart started beating fast, and sometimes it skips a beat too.

“Have you found your mate, darling? Your heart is beating like crazy.” Fuck! Can he feel it? Erghh I have to control my heart next time my father is around and my crush is in within eye sight.

 “No, father, it’s just a boy I like, I haven’t met my mate for this century yet. There he is.” I pointed out the window which is tinted of course, toward Uriel.

“He’s cute I guess, how old is he?” Why the sudden curiosity? It’s not like he is a wolf, but I won’t know for sure since he’s only sixteen.

 “He is only sixteen, by the end of the year he’ll be seventeen, his little sister Saraqael is in the same class with me and she is one of my best friends.” If he was a wolf he would change when he is eighteen or when he meets his mate.

I heard the Alec laugh in the back seat. “Got a problem, pup?” I liked to call them pup. Duh, I am after all stronger than them. I’m like I full grown she wolf.

“Nothing, Katherine. It’s just typical that your crush is your best friend’s brother, that’s all.” I glared at him. I shouldn’t have minded him.

“What is his name? I’d like to meet him someday, I guess.” He isn’t my boyfriend yet and my father is starting to interrogate him through me. “His name is Uriel Spike, his sister is Saraquel Spike. They are name after Archangels, Saraquel’s mother died a few years ago, and his father is Raphael Spike”

“Are you planning on dating him, Katherine?” there it is, he just said my name, he only does that if he doesn’t want me to do something I’m think of doing. “You do know you’re going to have a mate? And when your mate finds out you have another man, he might not want to approach you.”

“You know what father? I’m Sixteen and I am at the right age to date and yes I might date him, because I like him father and when my mate comes, I might leave Uriel for my mate. But as of now I’m single.” The bell rang right after I finished my sentences and I thanked the spirits to have cut this long argument short. I opened the door and ran out to catch my friends.

“We will continue this argument when you get home, Katherine. I might be busy and so I have asked Alec and Isaac to fetch you when you’re out.”

My father was the only person that could go through my head even when I shut people out. It’s because he is still my Alpha, he is still king.

I growled in reply and my father growled louder. I caught up to my friends and let the thought of my father fade away.

I could hear my daughter’s heart beat faster, god the only time it beats this fast was when she meets her mate! I just got her, I won’t lose her to her mate, every single time she meets her mate, she leaves me and at this time I need her more then everything. How am I supposed to let her know that this might be my last hundred year with her?

 I have lived for around six hundred years and it had killed me to be away from my queen. I choose death when she was forced to be queen, meaning we had to be apart. I was going to kill myself, but then who would teach Katherine of my kind?

“Have you found your mate, darling? Your heart is beating like crazy.” the sound of my darling Katherine was no where far from her mother’s; she might as well be a mermaid with a voice like that.

“No, father, it’s just a boy I like, I haven’t met my mate of this century. There he is” I looked out as she pointed out towards one of the boys; dark hair, blue eyes, a muscular boy.

I wondered how old he was, he might be a werewolf. Unfortunately I could only smell a werewolf when they reached the age seventeen, I should teach my daughter that one day as well. “He’s cute I guess, how old is he?”

“He is only sixteen, by the end of the year he’ll be seventeen, his little sister Saraqael is in the same class with me and she is one of my best friends.” One of her guard chucked at the back as to hold his laughter, my daughter turned to him before speaking, “Got a problem, pup?”

It put a smile on my face every time my daughter called her guards ‘pup’, well they are of course to her and me, but to normal wolves they are of high ranks, even higher than an Alpha.

“Nothing, Katherine. It’s just typical that your crush is your best friend’s brother, that’s all.” I agreed with her guard, it was typical.

“What is his name? I’d like to meet him someday, I guess” I didn’t like the thought of Katherine dating a human; she could only mate with her kind. I won’t allow her to mate with human, mermen or witches.

“His name is Uriel Spike, his sister is Saraquel Spike. They are name after Archangels, Saraquel’s mother died a few years ago, and his father is Raphael Spike”

Before I could protest the bell rang and my daughter was out of the car and a few feet from her friends in a blink of an eye.

“We will continue this argument when you get home, Katherine. I might be busy and so I have asked Alec and Isaac to fetch you when you’re out.” I said though my mind, I was the only one that could get in and I was the only one she couldn’t block.
