Blake's POV

"Why?" Chris asked, looking at me with a mix of confusion and curiosity.

I put down my fork and took a deep breath. "Chris, I know this may seem sudden, but I've felt a connection with you from the moment we met. The kiss wasn't just a joke; it was real. I love you, and I want you to be a part of my life."

Chris remained silent, processing my words. I could see the wheels turning in his mind, and his expression shifted from shock to contemplation.

"I've been through a lot recently, and you caught me off guard," he finally said, his voice a bit shaky. "I'm not sure if I'm ready for another relationship, especially after what happened with Jake."

I nodded understandingly. "I get that, Chris. I'm not asking you to jump into anything. I just want you to know that I care about you, and whatever happens, I'll be here for you. No pressure."

He smiled faintly. "Thanks, Blake. I appreciate your honesty."

We continued our breakfast in relative silence, the weight of the conversation lingering between us. Despite the unexpected turn of events, I couldn't deny the genuine connection I felt with Chris. It was as if fate had brought us together for a reason.

After we finished eating, I suggested, "How about we go for a walk? Clear our minds a bit?"

Chris agreed, and we strolled through the expansive grounds surrounding the mansion. The sun was shining, casting a warm glow over the landscape. We walked in comfortable silence, occasionally exchanging glances and small smiles.

As we reached a serene garden, I stopped and turned to Chris. "I know you're going through a tough time, and I don't want to add any more complications. But I genuinely care about you, Chris. Take your time, and if you ever need someone to talk to or just be around, I'm here."

Chris looked at me, and a sense of vulnerability flickered in his eyes. "Thank you, Blake. I don't know what the future holds, but I appreciate your kindness."

We continued our walk, the mansion looming behind us as a backdrop to our unfolding connection. Whatever may come, I was willing to navigate the uncertainties with Chris, understanding that healing and moving forward took time.

Sometimes, unexpected moments and people entered our lives, offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of challenges. As we walked side by side, I hoped that our connection would grow, bringing solace and companionship to both our wounded hearts.
