Jake's POV:

I finished packing my bag, making sure I had everything I needed as I prepared to move into Chris's apartment and share my life with him. My best friend, King, appeared and voiced his displeasure, "Seriously, dude? You're leaving me?"

"Yeah, bro. I want to change. I want to be better for Chris," I replied.

"Okay, if that's what you want. Just don't forget about me or else!" King warned, concern evident in his eyes. We hugged one last time, and I grabbed my bag before heading out the door.

With a sense of excitement and determination, I set off for Chris's apartment. I stopped by J.Co for some doughnuts and Starbucks for a Frappuccino, wanting to make a good impression. I was eager to show Chris that I was serious about changing, about making our friendship work.

I arrived at Chris's door, ready to make a positive impression on him. I knocked, but there was no answer. I cautiously tried the doorknob, and to my surprise, it was unlocked. I ventured inside, searching for Chris.

After a bit of searching, I found him in his room, asleep with the apartment door wide open. I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of Chris's bad habit. I approached him, sitting down on his bed and leaning in to get a closer look at his angelic face. I gently attempted to wake him.

Chris woke with a start, and our foreheads bumped, causing him to react with alarm. "What are you doing to me? Last time you kissed me, now you want me to be your rape victim?" he exclaimed, hastily backing away.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You're overreacting. I just wanted to wake you up. I brought some snacks. Want some?" I replied, trying to defuse the situation with a laugh.

"Go outside. Wait for me there!" Chris ordered, tossing some pillows in my direction to usher me out.

I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction, so I obediently waited in the living room for his return.

A few minutes later, Chris emerged from his room and settled onto the couch, turning on the TV. He flipped through channels until he landed on one showing the movie Twilight. It felt like a passive-aggressive choice, but we both sat in silence, munching on our snacks and watching the movie.

I finally mustered the courage to ask, "So where is my room? I'd like to start moving my things in and set up my bed."

Chris responded with a hint of sarcasm, "Do vampires sleep?"

"No, I just want to feel at home," I replied, masking my humiliation.

"Okay. Down the hallway, the second room on the right," he said, handing me the keys.

"Thanks, Chris. Thank you for accepting me again," I expressed my gratitude as I stood up.

Chris didn't reply with words, but he gave me a thumbs-up, a silent gesture that communicated his understanding and acceptance. I took that as a positive sign and headed towards my new room, ready to start this new chapter in my life.
