chapter 2

Toni's POV

We see Nora getting deeper into the water before being pulled under.

"NORA" Shelby screams

I feel helpless because all I can do is watch. Watch as Nora goes under, and watch as Shelby screams in fear.

Suddenly Nora comes up from the water with Rachel in her arms then she pushes Rachel towards us before swimming to the right and eventually disappearing from my lane of vision a few seconds later Rachel comes up on the sand with a pool of blood fallowing her.

"Oh my god let me help you." Dot says as she pulls Rachel in

Are eyes all go to the spot were her hand once was.

"Nora... she's...she's still out there we have to help her." Rachel says out of breath

"Rachel I saw her swim to the right after pushing you towards the shore." I say

"Oh...oh god Nora." Rachel cries

"Hey that might be a good thing there is a small bank to the right remember, maybe she just thought it would be best to swim that way then risk crossing paths with the shark again." Shelby says trying to comfort Rachel

"Okay guys I know its important to find out where Nora is but we need to take care of this arm, so Leah go get the medical bag and Fatin grab me some water and shirts." Dot yells

Martha sits by Rachel holding her head in an attempt to comfort her.

"What should we do?" I ask

"You two go look for Norah." Dot demands

"Okay" I say and I give a look to Shelby letting her know to follow me

The second we are out of sight from the other girls I stop and pull Shelby in for a hug giving her a tight squeeze. Feeling her arms around me gives me a sense of comfort and security. I hold her for a second before letting go.

"Are you okay?" I ask

"I'm fine i'm uhh just a little shaking up is all." she says quietly

"Okay good" I say as a lean my head against her's

I stare into her beautiful eyes for a minute before grabbing her hand and begining to walk .

An hour and a half later We finally reach the bank.

"NORA" she screams

"NORA" I yell too

We search for an hour and we had already spent around 30 minutes formulating a plan and getting ourselves together after Rachel got to shore so at this point Nora has been missing for almost three hours.

"I don't think we are gonna find her I'm getting scared Toni I....I don't know what to do." Shelby says crying

"Hey it's okay don't cry we will find her." I promise

Then I lean in to kiss her holding her tightly trying to comfort her.

"But for now we need to head back okay its getting dark we will look again tomorrow." I say

"No no pleas Toni please we can't stop looking for her we can't give up." she says through her tears

"We have to Shelby come on we have to." I tell her as calmly as I can

I pull her close to me as she cries but she won't walk so I pick her up and start carrying her back.

By the time we reach camp Shelby is asleep in my arms and luckily all the other girls are asleep to or they would see us. I gently set Shelby down and cover her up with one of Fatin's jackets then I walk over to Martha who still has Rachel in her lap they are both asleep too.

"Oh uh hey Toni." Dot says while yawning

"Oh hey I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you." I say

"It's cool, how long have you been back?" Dot asks

"Not long just a few minutes." I reply

"Oh Shelby must have been tired she is already knocked out." Dot says

"Oh yeah she feel asleep basically as soon as we got back." I say nervously

"Oh okay well, where's Nora?" She asks

"We uh we looked the whole way there and we looked for an hour once we got down to the bank but she wasn't there and it was getting dark so we had to head back." I say disappointed

"Oh" Dot says visibly upset

"Hey but we will look agian tomorrow and we will find her." I say trying to cheer up Dot

"I have been trying to keep hope for Rachel because she's not doing great but I'm not so sure there's still a Nora to find." Dot says bluntly

"You...you think the shark" I stop I couldn't even get the sentence out

"Yeah" Dot says answering my unfinished question

"Oh god uh....okay well how's Rachel doing?" I ask

"Okay I guess we gave her some pain meds cleaned the wound and wrapped it with gauze and ripped tee shirts to Stop the bleeding. That should hold for now." Dot tells me

"Okay good I'm gonna head to bed then so we can start looking early tomorrow." I say 

"Alright, good night." Dot says

"Good night." I say back
