chapter 3

Shelby's POV

I wake up to the sun glaring in my eyes I look around and see Toni is the only other person up so I walk over to her. I don't remember much from last night but I recall freaking out and then feeling so tired and helpless like I couldn't even move and then Toni picked me up but I must've fallen asleep because that's the last thing I can remember.

"Hey" Toni says to me

"Hey" I say back

"Did you carry me all the way back last night?" I ask

"Oh uh yeah." she says with the bashful look on her face

I lean in and give her a peck.

"Thank you, I'm sorry." I whisper in her ear

"It's no problem." she says smiling

I pull away.

"No really thank you I can't believe I freaked out so bad last night." I say in a more serious tone

She stares at me looking deep into my eyes.

"Its okay Shelby it was a high tense situation." she says calmly before pulling me in for a hug

"So are you cool to go look for her with me again today." she says

"Yeah that sounds good but let's wait for Dottie to wake up then go." I say

"Yeah that's smart." Toni says

"What about me?" Dottie asks while yawning

"We were just saying how we were gonna wait for you to wake up before we go back out to look for Nora." I explain

"But now that your up I guess we will get going." Toni says

We head into the woods and once we are far enough in I look to Toni.

"Hey so did any one see us last night?" I ask

"But not that I am ashamed because I'm not I'm just not quit sure I want them to know about us yet." I quickly add in

"Its okay Shelby I get it and to answer your question, no one saw us." she tells me

"Oh okay cool." I said

"But I have a question of my own." she says nervously

"Okay shoot" I say back with a smile

"What um.... What are we, I mean you said you arent ready for them to know about us which is completely cool but I don't even know what we are." Toni says quickly

"I uh... I don't know I guess I hadn't given it much thought yet, what do you wanna be?" I ask

"I mean were not just friends, friends don't make out with each other." she says laughing

"Oh so you wanna be my girl friend, sounds great but your in for a tough time I'm a very needy girlfriend." I joke

"I've noticed." she says while laughing

"Okay so its official then." I say while garbing her arm and laying my head on her shoulder

"Yes" she says as she kisses my forehead

We spent the whole walk talking about everything from our faviort food to our biggest fears and it was the best time I have had in so long when I am with Toni it's like my world stops. Ever since Becca I had a hard time finding someone like that. It's like we have so much in common yet were still so different and I can look at all our differences and just admire her so much, she gives me the biggest butterflies and I never want them to go away I just hope she feels the sane way about me.

After awhile we reach the bank and begin to look for Nora.

"Okay we checked the vast mojorty of the bank yesterday so today lets do fine details just to make sure she is not like passed out some were hard to find." Toni says

"Okay then what?" I ask

"Well then we search the water the edge of the bank and out a little to make sure there's not just a dead body floating around." Toni says bluntly

"Oh alrighty then." I say quietly

"Crap sorry Shelby I didn't mean to freak you out." she says

"Hey its fine I get it now lets get to lookin all get the right half you get the left." I say

"As you wish." Toni says smiling

We look for an hour before Toni breaks my focus.

"We've been going over the same spots for an hour, she's not here I think time to search the water." Toni says

"Well alright then lets go look." I say

We carefully step over some rocks and into the water we look around the edge for any sign of Nora. We find nothing so we decided to swim out we get out pretty far, far enough to see the camp and the other girls but way to the right of were the shark was. We search high and low for Nora in the water no cloths no body no blood nothing it's like she disappeared.

"Shelby I don't think we are gonna find her we should head back and break the news." Toni says 

"Okay" I say sadly

The walk back was a lot more quit but still Toni held my hand the whole time it made me feel so safe having her next to me. After a while we approach the camp and Toni pulls her hand away, making miss the feeling of her finger interlocked with mine.

Rachel quickly jumps up when she sees us "where's Nora?" she asks excitedly

"Im sorry Rachel we uh we could find her." I say quietly

Rachel walks towards me and stares into my eyes with pure rage on her face she uses her hand to grab my shoulder and push me back, I probably could overpower her since she only has one hand but I am too shocked to move.

"You couldn't find her you couldn't FUCKING find her, what the fuck are you good for you had one job one damn job GOD." Rachel screams at me

Everyone is standing there shocked but then Toni runs towards us I don't know what's coming over her but I could see how angry she is.

"Don't FUCKING touch her" she screams while running towards Rachel

Suddenly Rachel is on the ground Toni on top of her.

"Never lay a hand on her again you hear me." Toni Whispers

Toni gets off Rachel and walks away but Rachel was still laying on the ground shocked about what just happened.

"What was that about." Martha says looking confused

" I don't know, but she probably just got defensive because she was trying really hard to look for Nora I should probably be the one to go follow her though it's kind of my fault." I say

"Its not your fault." Martha says eyeing Rachel who was still just silent laying on the ground

After a second I finally catch up with Toni who is sitting on a rock out of breath.

"Hey I'm sorry, I totally just blew our cover back there I just got so mad." Toni says quietly

"Toni it's okay thank you I appreciate you sticking up for me, plus I made up some excuse as to why you were mad." I say 

I flash Toni a smile but she still looks tense so I grab her face and kiss her she quickly kisses me back holding on to my waist pulling me closer to her so our bodies were touching, after few seconds I pull away and she's definitely not tense anymore.

"Now lets head back." I say reaching out my hand for Toni to grab

"Okay"  she says while grabbing my hand and giving it a squeeze
