Chapter 6

Toni's POV

When we get back its a little past 7:00 a.m.

"Hey there love birds" Fatin says to us as we walk up

I look around and see Fatin is the only person up, I am super confused and I glance over at Shelby who's face is super red.

"What uh what are you talking about." I mutter

"Guys it's cool like I told Shelby I know sexual tension when I see it." Fatin says

"What are you talking about?" I ask

"The other day Fatin saw me looking at you and she said I should go talk to you, and that she knows sexual tension when she sees it." Shelby says

I look over to Shelby to see what I should say but I can't tell so I just try to play it off.

"Yeah well you thought wrong, I mean ME and SHELBY what.... we were just getting every one lychees sine we were the only ones up." I say nervously

"Toni it's cool I mean she clearly already knows, just don't tell anyone else okay Fatin"Shelby says

Knowing its not a huge secret any more makes me feel a lot better even if only on other person knows its better than nothing.

"Oh okay then." I say

"See I knew you bitches were screwing it was so obvious." Fatin says laughing

"yeah I mean I guess we could have been more discreet." I joke

I grab Shelby and sit down wrapping my arms around her.

"Yall are cute I ship it" Fatin jokes

I smile then look over and see Dot starting to move so I scoot away from Shelby.

"Hey, Dottie." Shelby says

"Morning Dorothy." Fatin says

"Oh hey, morning guys." Dot says

"So what's on the agenda today Dot?" I ask

"Well, we need to build a new shelter since ours is destroyed." she says

"Alright Dot your the expert here, what's the plan?" I ask

"I was thinking we would build it like the last one just a bit bigger." she says

"Okay sounds good." Shelby says

" What do we need to get?" Fatin asks

"Um, why don't you and Toni go get some logs, and Shelby you can find stuff for the roof." Dot says

"Hey I am kinda the roof expert why don't I get that stuff and Toni and Shelby can get the logs." Fatin says while winking at us

"Okay whatever works for you guys is cool with me all just start mapping out the area." Dot says

I give a look to Shelby and we grab the axe and begin to walk to the woods. Wants we are hidden I grab her hand.

"So these logs over here look good we can cut them in half and they will be perfect, they are pretty big so we can probably only get two at a time but I am gonna cut a bunch so we just have to come get them." I say

Shelby just stares at me for a second before grabbing my face and pulling me in for a kiss.

"Oh, or we can do this." I laugh

"No no we should go cut these logs and bring them back, I just got a little distracted." Shelby says while giggling

I smile at her then we cut and pick up the logs and head back. It's been about 30 min.

"Here ya go Dot, we have more cut we just have to go get it" I say

"Oh cool well everyone is awake now so Leah, Martha why don't you go help them get the logs." Dot says

"Okay" Martha says smiling at me

We all head into the woods grabbed the last of the logs and bring them back to Dot.

"Hey guys I have a pile of roof stuff right here so let's get building." Fatin says

"I'm sorry guys I feel so useless." Rachel says

"Hey don't be sorry, you did a lot of work for the first shelter just think of this as us paying you back." Shelby says to Rachel

Rachel just nods and we all start to lean the logs together and stack stuff on for the roof.

"Okay it's looking good, but we need more food other than fruit and we need water so why don't you guys go get that and Martha Rachel and I will finish up hear." Dot suggests

I think Dot was trying to protect Martha by having her stay back because we will have to hunt and we all know how Martha feels about that.

"Okay let's go guys." I say and the group follows me

"So we didn't find Nora at that bank but it looked like a good fishing spot, so Toni and I could go fish there and yall could go get water." Shelby says

"Okay sounds good but let's also collect any fruit we see along the way, I know we are all getting sick of it but it's still food." Fatin says

"Got it." I say and we split off

I am very happy we don't have to kill any animals because Martha would be so upset if we did.

"So I already had this plan in mind so I brought that fishnet Nora made I just didn't want to say anything around Martha just in case it didn't work out I didn't want to get her hopes up." Shelby tells me

"Oh okay well let's head that way." I say while grabbing Shelby's hand

Since this time around we weren't also looking for Nora the walk was a lot quicker and we got there in a little under an hour. As soon as we reached the bank we steeped into the water and after just a few minutes we caught a bunch of little fish.

"Okay now these little guys ain't the best for eating but they make great bait for the big guys." Shelby says

"Okay good." I say

We head deeper into the water and fish for some bigger fish and luckily after a while we caught some. Every time we caught a fish we put it in Shelby's bag.

"Hey, let's stop at 7 since we don't really have a way to store extras." Shelby says

"Cool, then we only need two more, this actually is not taking long at all." I say

Around 10 minutes later we finished catching all the fish and were on our way back it had been a little under 3 hours so we made pretty good time. As we approach the girls I see Fatin and Leah are back and they are boiling the water they brought plus the shelter is done so that's good.

"We come baring fish." I yell.

"Oh my god nice guys how did you catch these?" Dot asks

"Well it turns out that Bank over there is a pretty good fishing spot, so let's get these cooking." I say

"Really great job guys. " Rachel says

"yeah well it was Shelby's idea. " I said

"Nice Shelby." Dot says

"Good jobs guys" Martha says while smiling at us

Shelby smiles back and we sit around the fire we now had food shelter and water and I got to spend the day with Shelby so today was pretty great.
