Chapter 14

Shelby's POV Today is July 12th

I wake up to the sun glaring in my eyes, I blink a few times then look around to see if anyone else is awake, no one else is so I think I'm gonna take a walk to clear my mind. I don't really wanna be around anyone right now I am kinda embarrassed at this point I mean I have been such an emotional train wreck recently and I feel like Toni has to be my babysitter rather than my girlfriend. I walk over to the Lychee tree, sit down and bury my head into my legs while playing with my cross necklace.

Toni's POV

I wake up around the same time as all the other girls I look around for Shelby and don't see her.

"Have any of you guys seen Shelby?" I ask the girls

"No, I haven't." Rachel says and the other girls just nod in response

"Okay, well I guess I'm gonna go look for her." I say with a fake smile I am trying to play it off but I am kinda worried especially after everything that happened yesterday

I begin to walk towards the lychee tree where I find Shelby sitting in front of the tree playing with her cross necklace.

"Hey, Shelb you okay?" I ask quietly 

"Oh yeah, I'm fine I just wanted to go for a walk." She says quietly

" Oh you should have woken me up I would have come with you." I say with a slight smile

"Oh yeah, I just didn't want to bug you." She says while staring at the ground

"It wouldn't have been a bother, you know that are you sure your okay?" I ask

Shelby's POV

I nod my head in reassurance but I'm not really okay. I mean I was the one holding everyone together I was the one being positive and suggesting stupid games but now I am falling apart every second and I feel like I have no control over myself, my emotions, anything.

"I'm fine Toni really I just needed to move around a little, it's cool." I say trying my best to convince her

"Alright if you say so." she says clearly not convinced

I lean in give her a small peck then grab her hand and lead her back to the others. I spend the next few hours trying my best to smile and hide the way I am actually feeling I mean I don't need any more of them thinking I'm crazy. After a while of us sitting in silence, Dot walked over to me.

"Hey, Shelb ya doing okay."

"Yep, I'm fine Dot." I say quickly

"Are you sure you have been a little quiet." Dopt says giving me the same look of concern Toni did earlier

"Yes Dot, I'm fine." I say a little more sternly this time

" No.... no you're not, come with me." Dot commandsI lightly roll my eyes but follow her anyway

"I think I know what's going on with you." Dot says

"Oh yeah and what is that." I say while rolling my eyes and looking at the ground

"I know recently you have been struggling and I know you may think you need to be all put together like you were in the beginning, but we all have our moments Shelby and this has been hard it's okay if your not doing great no one expects you to be all happy and sunshiny all the time." Dot says softly

I look up at her and she just stares right back at me I start to feel tears filling my eyes so I do my best to hold them back. But I can't hold them back any longer I look down and began to lightly cry as Dot rubs my back then I look back up to her and spill my heart out.

" I just feel like I'm going crazy, I have been such a mess and I am honestly embarrassed that I can't seem to get a hold of my emotions I mean look at me I'm bawling my eyes out" I say with a chuckle because all I can really do is laugh at my self and my craziness

" Yeah I mean I will admit you have been a bit wack recently but you will be fine and I know just how to help you, we are gonna go back to camp I am gonna give you some of that medicine to chill you out and you are gonna sleep for as long as you can, then when you wake up you will be good as new." Dot tells me while smiling

"Well alright Dottie your the smart one, I trust you." I say through a laugh

Dot reaches out her hand for me to grab, I grab it and head back to camp with her. I settle down next to Toni and rest my head on her shoulder she down and gives me a questioning look but doesn't say anything, after a second Dot comes back with some water and the medicine. I drink some water down the pill and close my eyes finally feeling at least a little at peace.

"What was that?" Toni asks causing me to open my eyes

"Dot gave me some stuff to chill me out." I tell her while closing my eyes again

"Oh yeah, is that the shit you gave me?" Leah asks

"Yeah" Dot replies

"Aww nice Shelby, that the good stuff it chilled me out so it should definitely work for you." Leah says while laughing

I just smile my eyes still closed as i slowly drift off to sleep.
