He Changed

[TWO WEEKS LATER]

Bongeka was relieved when Nora informed her that Yamkelwe was on his way back to the quarters. She had been restless for the whole two weeks. Although the pains were over but she would sometimes feel like she was intimate while she wasn't. The terrible scenes and mantras that were playing on her mind didn't make things better, plus Yamkelwe had promised to be in contact everyday. But not even once did he call.

She was convinced that  something bad had happened to Yamkelwe but Nora always assured her that if anything was to happen to Yamkelwe, she would also feel it because of the mark bond.

“He is here Bongeka. He is safe as I told you, you were worrying yourself about nothing actually”Nora said, smiling wide.

Bongeka squealed in excitement l “Where is he? Where is he? Oh my goodness Master!” she jumped like a baby, she was already running down the vestibule when Nora told her to stop.

“I'm afraid master doesn't want to be interrupted in his rest”

Bongeka's wild smile turned into a frown “What? No he was talking about y’all not me” 

“Bongeka, Master Yamkelwe had been good, trust me you don't want to get on his wrong side”

“I won't! I'm his queen he won't mind”

“Bongeka —”

“Shut up! I'm going to see my man and you won't stop me. Perhaps you should mind your own business, I'm sure there is some sick night creature that had been fed a diseased blood and needs your help”

“Oh, as far as I know vampires don't sleep”  Bongeka continued giving Nora a fake
smile before heading to Yamkelwe’s room. She didn't find him. She figured out that maybe he was in his study.

“I thought I gave a clear instruction not to be disturbed” Yamkelwe said without even looking at Bongeka who just invited herself in his study.

“Yamkelwe, it's me”

“I know”

“Yes baby, so how was your trip?” Bongeka didn't mind Yamkelwe’s ignorant tone.

“What makes you special?” Yamkelwe asked

“Huh?”

“Bongeka, I said I don't want to be interrupted and you saw yourself fit to go against my word?” Their eyes met, Yamkelwe was looking at her in so much disdain. 

“Hmm sorry, I will leave”  As soon as she was outside, she let her tears flow, the pains in her chest started again.

“Come dear, you need some sleep” Nora embraced her as soon as she entered her room.

“I'm sorry Nora, you were right”

“It's okay darling”

“He hates me!”

“He doesn't hate you  Bongeka. Maybe his meeting didn't go well”

She went to take a nap in Yamkelwe’s bedroom since she was using it all along.

She slept and woke and slept and woke up again with no no sign of Yamkelwe. Her heart broke into tiny pieces. She was asking herself if she did something wrong to him? Or he decided that he doesn't love her anymore or maybe the royals forced him to break up with her.

“Sweets, are you still up? you should be resting” Yamkelwe said.

“I'm sorry Yamkelwe.”

“What are you apologizing for sweets?”

“That I went against your instruction”

“No, no, no sweets. I'm the one who should be apologizing for my behavior. I shouldn't have spoken to you in that manner” Yamkelwe apologized, Bongeka couldn't read his eyes as she is used too. She didn't know if he was sincere or not, there was something dark about him, something was wrong with him. He looked… Different.

“Was the meeting okay?”

It was silent for a while before Yamkelwe spoke uncomfortably “Yes… No I mean it was hmmm yes. It was fine”

“Yamkelwe you can talk to me anytime. You look troubled”

“Vampire problems, sweets. I'm sorry I took all my frustrations on you”

“I forgive you” She said yawning

“Let's sleep sweets. I'm so sorry for making you wait up”

“It's okay, I love you” She said attempting to kiss him but he stepped back in discomfort.

“Hmm” clears the throat “I… Love you more, sweets”

The following morning, Bongeka woke up disappointed by the fact that she woke up alone, she expected to wake up on Yamkelwe’s tight embrace like in novels where the guy wouldn't even allow his girl to go to the bathroom because he doesn't want to separate from her. 

But maybe she went to prepare breakfast for her. She woke up and went to wash, she came back to no sign of her mate.  Her stomach wasn't patient enough to wait for Yamkelwe to bring her breakfast. She opted to go downstairs to check on him but she found a bunch of vampires that were eyeing her weirdly.

“Goodmorning!” she greeted excitedly.

Silence

“Well I guess it's not quite a good morning  for y’all” She marched to the fridge to get herself something to eat when a vampire stood before it, restricting her from opening it.

“What?”

“Master gave a strict instruction not to let you make food for yourself. Actually, you are forbidden to use any kitchen”

“What! No. I'm hungry, how am I supposed to eat when I'm not allowed in the kitchen?”

“It is his duty to feed you. Unless he specifically asked someone to do it on his behalf”

“oh, I see. Where is he? I need to eat?”

“This conversation is over” The vampire said dismissively.

“No! Why?”

The vampire rolled his eyes “Master gave a strict instruction for vampires not to interact with you without his permission. I already broke the rule. I don't want to get punished”

“Can I at least get your name?”

“Keden”

“Okay Keden, can I please grab some fruit. Your master won't know”

“Bye Pandora”
