It's been four days since Bongeka last ate. Yamkelwe made her choose between eating all of that food at once or staying hungry. She chose hunger because she knew she couldn't finish all of that at once, she wasn't about to lick her vomit again. She was scared that milk might give her a runny stomach and perhaps, she would be forced to eat her own shit… argh, sies. Nevermind.
She was getting weaker with each day. And Pandora seemed to have abandoned her.She woke up alone as usual and decided to get some fresh air. She found herself in a garden, watching the sun peaking out from behind the mountain tops, golden rays giving bright color to the clouds. It was a beautiful day, a beautiful morning. Seeing the sunrise painting the sky with pinks brought hope.
During the past few days, she learned that Yamkelwe wasn't himself, his eyes were not the usual beautiful brown eyes that reflected love and sincerity, they were no longer looking like the cuddles of a coco teddy bear, they were no longer snuggling, inviting and calming. The beautiful sunrise reminded her of the first time she looked at him,the first time she met his gaze. The first time he tamed Pandora. The first time he confessed his love for her. Mostly, their first spiritual and physical connection, the marking. His eyes were like the sun kisses, the reflected love and understanding in the sun’s favor.
But those eyes were lost in Norway, when he came back from there, his eyes were muddy, vast and horrifying reflecting darkness and possession. With each day he became more evil, but Bongeka remained hopeful. Perhaps Pandora wasn't triggered because Bongeka wasn't angry.
“Be careful Pandora, those blooms can be corrosive to wolves” Kaden spoke behind Bongeka who was about to touch a beautiful purple colored bloom.
“I prefer being called Bongeka Kaden”
“Oh, my bad. How are you?... Stupid question. You look dead”
“Yeah, dead just like you” Bongeka joked weakly.
“Trust me, I look alive compared to you. What happened to you?” Kaden asked concerned
“The last time I checked Kaden, you weren't allowed to converse with me”
“Don't dodge my question”
“I'm fine, just had a rough night. I had a terrible nightmare” Bongeka said, hoping he would buy her nightmare story.
“Nightmare? You don't look like someone who was sleeping during the night. Those nightmares might have found you wide awake” He said sarcastically.
“It's nothing Kaden”
“Well if you say so—wait, what is this? Who hit you?” Kaden asked, touching the finger marks on Bongeka's face.
“Let it go please”
“If Master sees you like this, hell will break loose. Who dares touches masters mate?”
“Let it go Kaden. Where is he? I mean your master?” it's been four days since she last saw him.
“He is at his office”
“Could you please make me some food?please”
“Bongeka you know I can't do that”
“Please”
He was a bit reluctant but ended up agreeing. “Okay fine, stay here”
Although Kaden knew he wasn't allowed to talk to Bongeka but he couldn't just say no when it was obvious that Bongeka was in trouble, the dark circles around her eyes, the marks in her face, the weight loss. It was obvious that she was starved.
And he can't even address all of this to Yamkelwe because looked disoriented. Sometimes he would be his old self sometimes he'd just become monstrous.
He cautiously made her sandwiches and juice.
“Since when did you last eat?” Kaden asked just after Bongeka stuffed two slices at once.
She raised four fingers while gulping her juice and taking another huge bite of the remaining sandwich.
“Whatever is going on between master and you shall be well”
Bongeka nodded with unshed tears
“Thank you. Kaden, I hope I didn't put you in trouble”
“You're welcome. Let me leave you before we get caught”
“Before you go, how did you know I am a wolf?”
“I smell a wolf from afar, how did you become one?”
“Seth turned me, the alpha. Trust me I don't like the trait”
“Do you turn at will?”
“I don't know, never tried. The only time I shape-shifted was when Seth used his alpha ability telling me to shift, it wasn't at will” Bongeka explained, Kaden just nodded.
“Why are you not affected by the sun?” Bongeka asked, Kaden showed him the bracelet.
“I see, let me not keep you I'm sure you have a lot to do”
They bid each other goodbyes. Bongeka was a bit better, she was fed, she saw her favorite sight of the day, sunrise. Her hope was restored. She went back to Yamkelwe’s room. On her way there, her mark started aching, much worse than the last time. She screamed for help,as the pain on her neck ramped up from aching to searing, blinding agony faster than one could blink. Her body started hitting up like someone just poured boiling water on her.
The vampires did not even aid her, Kaden who was possibly gonna help was out of sight. And Nora was too scared to go near her. After about thirty minutes, the pains disappeared along with her mark.
Nora walked past her “The mark is broken, you are no longer safe. Hide” Nora warned making sure no one saw that she was talking to Bongeka.
Bongeka picked herself up and ran to her initial destination. She gasped in surprise and hurt when he saw Precious in bed butt naked with Yamkelwe.
