FLASHBACK 1

I nodded and went inside the SUV. I sat to the left and Erica sat in the middle, next to me. I felt my cheeks turn red and my ears get hot.

Erica noticed this, "What? Flustered that I'm sitting next to you?" She smirked.

I blushed even more now, "Uh, n-no," I smiled nervously.

Erica just smiled amusingly, "You know, the only reason why I'm sitting here is because there's no more room but to sit next to you,"

Mike popped up from the trunk, "Well, there's some room back here, but, it's really hot, and there's lots of chewed gum, which is still edible by the way, and there's some, what is that? Oh, fecal matter."

Erica looked like she wanted to puke, "You know what? I'm good here."

I saw Mike give me a wink. I smiled at him.

Alexander started the car and started driving to the SOLDATS HQ.

I looked at Erica, "So...why where you watching me?"

She looked at me, confused, "W-What do you mean?"

"You were watching me, when I was looking for Joshua. Remember?"

Erica blushed slightly, then it faded quickly, "Um, well, why were you watching me?"

I felt my ears get hot, "Wait, what?"

"You were watching me at the cafeteria. For a long time."

I looked at my shoes. Erica did the same.

At the same time we said," Do you like me?"

We looked at the floor, "Um, it's complicated," We said at the same time.

Then we looked at each other in shock, "Err..." We murmured at the same time.

"Wait, stop saying everything I say!" We both yelled at each other.

"Argh!" We both cried in annoyance.

I noticed Alexander pointing a phone at us. He was recording us. Erica looked annoyed, "Dad! Get that camera out of here!"

I heard Alexander chuckle as he pulled the phone away.

FLASHBACK 2

We followed the sound of the scraping, and when we reached it, it left me frozen in my tracks.

What appeared to be a massive building, similar to a factory, was standing below us (FYI, we were on a cliff). The windows illuminated a orangish-yellow light. Cars were parked in front of it. Spotlights circling the factory. There were giant drones patrolling the area.

"Would you look at that?" Erica said.

I took out my phone and snapped a photo of it.

Erica smiled, "Nice thinking."

I smiled back. I think I even blushed a bit, too.

Then Erica slid down the cliff, "Come on guys, this is important stuff. Let's go," I followed behind her.

Mike and Zoe hesitated, "Are you sure?"

Erica looked at them, "Yes! Come on. We've got to report this. Ben, take photos of anything that looks important."

I nodded.

Mike and Zoe shared looks, but they agreed to come. They slid down the hill and we crept under the rubble.
