Hanahaki AU except getting surgery doesn't exist to treat this disease. :)
TW: slight gore-ish?
TWILIGHT SKYLINES-the sun begins to rise, casting a inferno upon the world. The hands of two individuals intertwine as the twilight breaks for another day.

Everyone had heard about the hanahaki disease caused by unrequited love, but no one believed that it actually existed. It was such a rare disease that even the history books rarely mentioned someone having caught this disease. Even in the modern day of Teyavt, though unrequited love occurred everywhere, hanahaki was nowhere to be seen. And thus this disease was forgotten about and no one had to worry about it. That is, until you were born.
A small, tiny, miniscule seed was implanted into your lungs the moment you were born from an unknown cause. No one could explain why a seed was in your lungs and your mother had been worried that this would grow to be problematic once you grew up. However, it seemed as time went on and you grew older, the seed never grew and it stayed the same size no matter what happened to you. Because of this, your mother could finally sigh in relief knowing that nothing bad would ever happen to her darling daughter.
Once you were old enough, you applied to be an assistant at the Knights of Favonius Headquarters, wanting to help out whenever possible, but not actually become an official knight. You simply enjoyed helping others and didn't mind if you didn't get any recognition for your good deeds. As long as others were happy, you too, were happy. Helping out around the Favonius building was how you met your best friend, Albedo, the chief alchemist.
You felt as if you could trust him with your entire life after having gotten to know the male for a few years. He was like the brother you never had and you loved him like family. Rarely were you not seen hanging around the prodigy as it was almost impossible to separate the two of you.
Each day as night falls, you would walk from Mondstadt all the way to the icy, subzero climate of Dragonspine just to spend the evening with Albedo. The sunrise on that cold mountain was quite the sight to see and it was even better to enjoy it with the person you cared about the most. That bright and round yellow ball known as the sun was the prettiest thing when it rose to the sky, casting its bright rays upon the whole of Teyvat. Hands intertwined with Albedo's gloved ones, no matter what happened, you always found it in you to trek up to his lab in Dragonspine to see the scenery before you.
Having Albedo as your friend made you feel happy. Happy to know that there was someone who cared about you and that you cared about too. But the one thing you hated doing to him was making him worry about your well being. If ever you got sick, the blonde alchemist would fret about getting rest and if you ever got even the smallest of injuries, he'd freak out.
That's why when the signs started appearing, you swore to not let anybody know and to hide away from everybody. Once the first petal came out from your mouth, that day was when you shut yourself from the world. Resorting to hidden feelings, the facade and persona you decided to show was severely different from who you used to be, but it was for the safety of the people around you that you loved so dearly.
It would absolutely kill you if your parents found out that you had gotten hanahaki and so you moved out of their house into a small apartment in the centre of Mondstadt.
Albedo had been one of the first to notice your sudden change in behaviour and he immediately interrogated you. He could tell that something was wrong, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it which was why the male wanted to ask you directly. However, because by your own will you wanted to protect everyone by suppressing your true feelings and emotions as to what was happening to you, Albedo was forced to accept this sudden change though it bothered him greatly.
