Without you knowing, Xiao and Zhongli both kept watchful eyes on you to make sure you were okay. Both of them knew that sooner or later your heart would get broken and it was only a matter of time before that happened. After studying and looking into the rumors more, Zhongli was the first to conclude that Childe being the playboy was true. Interviews with the ginger's previous lovers made Xiao want to straight up murder the boy, but Zhongli was able to hold him back u̶n̶t̶i̶l̶ t̶h̶e̶ t̶i̶m̶e̶ w̶a̶s̶ r̶i̶g̶h̶t̶.

Months went by without a hitch in your relationship with Childe. You fell more and more in love with him as each date went by, as each day and each intimate moment went by. Though the one thing that always bothered you when you walked the halls with Childe by your side was the whispers paired with sideways glances. You could never hear what the whispers said, yet you could imagine that they were talking about the rumors regarding the playboy.

At this point it was basically confirmed that Childe was the playboy. Of course you refused to believe such a thing as you could say with confidence that the orange haired boy was nothing like the rumors made him to be.

You were happy to be dating the ginger and any bad thing said about him you ignored as you simply could not believe that he was a bad person. You'd given him a chance and seen for yourself what a nice and caring boy he was. Surely he would never lie and put up a facade just to trick and break you.

It's been nearly six months since you both started dating and your six month anniversary was quickly approaching. For this special occasion you wanted to prepare a nice gift for him as a celebration of being together for so long. You believed that gifting homemade things had so much more meaning that anything else, and so you decided to create a handcrafted sculpture of a whale coming out of the water. Obviously it was on a smaller scale and would be big enough to fit in your hands.

You showed the final product to your brother and Xiao, who was still crashing at your place due to his parents. They both held supportive smiles, but inside they were really worried for you. When you had told them that you would be meeting with Childe for your anniversary, there was no doubt in their mind that something bad was going to happen, so they agreed to follow you secretly.

Childe had proposed to meet at the school courtyard where many plants and flowers grew, courtesy of the gardening club. It was a secluded enough place for two people to have lunch or hang out, yet it still had a connection to the school itself.

As you bid farewell to Zhongli at the school gates, you nervously clutched the whale statue, which you had wrapped in a box with a bow on top, and quickly raced to the courtyard. Butterflies flew around rapidly in your stomach as you got closer to the courtyard. You really hoped that Childe would appreciate the handmade gift you'd spent weeks making and perfecting.

Turning the corner into the courtyard, you were met by Childe's back and it seemed that he hadn't noticed you yet. With a smile, you quietly approached him, wanting to surprise the male only to hear him speaking to someone else.

The closer you got to him, the more your heart sank until you were merely a few feet behind him. The anniversary gift you had prepared from him quickly slipped out of your grasp and hit the concrete ground with a light thump.

Whispers of flirtatious remarks and kissing could be heard coming from his direction and at this point, you finally pieced it together that the ginger was holding another person, another girl, and being very romantically intimate with her.

Confusion was all that filled you and your heart ached as if someone was trying to rip it out of your body. So many questions filled your head and you badly needed context and an explanation for this. Somehow at this moment, the rumors that had been going around for months didn't click in your head.
