↬When We Meet Again↫Tighnari x Reader

While playing through Tighnari's story quest, I got some ideas for oneshots on this guy so yeah... The next oneshot will definitely be part 2 to 'Never Gonna Give You Up.'

Also, for anyone here that's currently reading my Scaramouche fanfic "Little Flower," don't worry, I haven't forgotten or abandoned it. I'm currently working on the next chapter. It's just that I went through this whole thing over the summer where I lost motivation to do the things I usually enjoy doing + some burnout from Genshin fics. That and the fact that I've been busy and haven't had as much time as I'd like to work on this oneshot book and my fanfic.

Anyways, sorry for that little ramble. Onto the oneshot!

"Who's that in the picture, Tighnari?" The annoying and high pitched voice of Paimon interrupted the fennec fox's train of thoughts. Thinking that he was alone in the Pardis Dhyai, the sudden presence of another startled him greatly, though he kept his composure and turned around to face the traveler and their floating companion. Karkata, who had been with Tighnari and assisting with note taking of his research, made a few noises of happiness upon seeing the traveling duo.

"Traveler and Paimon, what are you doing here?" Tighnari closed his notebook full of research notes temporarily to greet the pair.

"Oh, we just thought we'd visit you! Paimon couldn't help but notice this picture near Karkata when we walked in," she held up a photo containing two people in it: Tighnari and another person wearing robes of the Akademiya, that person being you of course. You wore a bright smile on your face as an arm was slung across the boy's shoulders. The same old look of displeasure was present on Tighnari's face, though there was a hint of a smile pulling at the corner of his lips that he was containing pretty well in the photo.

Tighnari took the picture from the floating pixie and examined it rather quickly before handing it back to her. Paimon held a look of confusion as the fennec fox said nothing for a few moments. She was beginning to think that seeing the image might've broken him before he cleared his throat, opened his notebook back up, and finally said something.

"That's just another classmate from when I was still with the Akademiya," he answered curtly. He'd rather not remember you at this time. Tighnari held nothing against you at all. You were actually quite enjoyable to be around unlike the other scholars from the Akademiya. It was just that you'd been gone for so long he was afraid that the emotion of missing you would start to interfere with his research and job of being a Forest Watcher.

"But they look so... so close to you! They've even got an arm around you," Paimon's high voice squeaked. The tip of the fox's ear twitched a little from the obnoxiousness of her voice and he was tempted to snap at her, yet refrained from doing so since the traveler was also there.

"Unlike the other scholars, they were quite tolerable and weren't as annoying. Their pursuit of geology wasn't... nevermind. The point is, Y/n wasn't as obsessed with their studies which made them a likable person."

"Oooh, so their name is Y/n? What were they like?" At the mention of your name, Tighnari's tail stood up for a moment as the realisation that he let your name slip set in. Of all the times he could've started going back through his memories of the time spent with you it had to be now right when he was so engrossed in his research.

Karkata crawled over to its new master and let out a 'kuli' whilst giving the boy a nudge on his leg. Though the crab couldn't speak or understand complicated things from the human language, Karkata pointed to the picture of you and him and then gave Tighnari its best impression of puppy dog eyes.

Sighing, the fennec fox boy rubbed his temples in frustration at the two children in front of him who were silently pleading him to tell them more about you and him's relation to one another. All stemming from a single photo... just great. This was certainly not what he needed to be dealing with at the moment.
