Katheryne yells at the top of her lungs about how she's ashamed that we aren't vegan yet, but looks at me with a thumbs up. "ALL OF YOU SHOULD GO VEGAN! FOLLOW JASMINE, WHO BECAME VEGAN TODAY! HAPPY VEGAN DECLARATION DAY!"

Everybody stares at her in astonishment. Then, one by one, we all make a run for it as Belle brings out a food trolley.

My mum angrily grips my hand, pulling me all the way over to Alexis' house. She had heard about the drama, as it turns out, Ms Winny had seen everything that went down and reported it back to her. She also found out that Alexis slapped me from Claudia, but is somehow more mad at me.

"I cannot believe what you and your friends did today!" She hisses, "I thought I told you to be responsible! You should've gone to me, or a teacher! I didn't know that you ended up in a physical fight with that poor girl that you provoked!"

"Mum," I say, "what exactly did Ms Winny tell you? Because I didn't fight anyone, the only thing remotely close to fighting today was Alexis slapping me in the face"

My mum shoves her phone in her face, and I read the email.

Dear Jasmine's parents,

I regret to inform you that just today, I witnessed her and her friend group fighting Alexis and her friend group as well. It got very physical, and multiple students were injured in the battle. Alexis was left with a black eye, and rebroke her broken leg, while Jasmine got off scot free. I would just like to inform you of this, so you can punish her at home.

Regards,

Ms Winny

"Mum, that never happened-"

Alexis opens the door, a serious expression on her face. Mum looks at her quickly, then at her leg. "Isn't your leg broken? What about your black eye?"

"What are you talking about?" Alexis groans, "mum! Jasmine and her mum are here."

Alexis' mum quickly runs down the stairs, looking at us. She looks confused for a moment, then pulls out her phone, looking for something. "I thought Jasmine snapped her neck, and was in the hospital. But she looks completely fine. At least, that's what their PE teacher told me. See, look."

Dear Alexis' parents,

I regret to inform you that today, I witnessed Alexis and her friend group fighting Jasmine, and her friend group. Jasmine's neck ended up being snapped in the process by Alexis, and she is currently residing at the hospital. I am here to tell you that this behaviour is not acceptable at our school, and I strongly urge you to punish her at home.

Regards,

Ms Winny

"That teacher lied to us," my mother breathes. "I am going to that school to get her fired."

"I'll come as well," Alexis' mum says. "You girls stay here, it's not like you have anything better to do, and plus, you two need to work on your friendship. We'll be off then."

Alexis' mum grabs her coat, bag and keys, and hastily runs off with my mother - get in the car and drive to the school. We stare at them as they speed off, mortified at what they had just ordered us to do.

"They do know that they basically just... I'm calling Claudia," I say, taking out my phone. Alexis rolls her eyes.

"Of course you are always pawning off things on other people. You're always asking for help, I can't wait for the day where you ask for help, but nobody answers. Because believe me, when that happens, you'll be left in a ditch all by yourself, crying. Just like you did when I accidently locked you in the bathroom."

"Are you kidding me?" I snap, "you are still mad about that? You hold grudges for the longest times don't you? You're so stubborn, you need to look in the mirror and realise that you need to change yourself! Everything that Claudia said today was true, all of your friends are there because they fear you. Not because they like you."

"So you think that I went to all of this trouble to make sure that you have a miserable life? Don't give yourself so much credit, you think of yourself so highly. You are such a narcissist."

"I'm a narcissist? If anything, you are," I say, pointing my finger at her. Aileen hears the commotion, and dreamily walks downstairs.

"Y'all," she says, bewildered. "I was like, just, in my bedroom. And like, I realised that like, nine times one is nine. Isn't that like, crazy?"

"No, it's really not," Alexis dismisses. "Go back to shooting chickens with wood, or whatever it is that you do."

Aileen scoffs, and retreats back upstairs, supposedly to her room. Alexis opens the door wider, and invites me to come inside. With a click, as the door shuts, I realize how out of place I feel.

"We usually just order takeout. When mum isn't home, she usually cooks. But I suspect she'll be long because she's a lawyer, or whatever. I'll just order pizza, Aileen doesn't really care what we have. She's the dumbest person ever. I'll just order pepperoni and margarita, is that good enough for you? Or does the high and mighty Jasmine want a rib-eye steak instead?" She mockingly says.

I shake my head, telling her that it's fine. She orders the pizza, and then invites me to come and watch the television with her in the next room.

Suddenly, a toddler, no older than two emerges out from underneath the couch - grinning from ear to ear. He sees me, runs up to me, and hugs my legs.

"Ugh, of course he likes you," she scowls. "Everybody likes you, don't they?"

"Not everybody," I mumble, looking down at the boy hugging my legs.

"What did you just say?"

"Nothing."
