"Do you mind if I sit here?" Comes a silky familiar voice. I spin my head around instantly and Alexis comes into my view. Grinning from ear to ear, tucking loose strands of her lustrous hair behind her ears.

"Sure," I manage. I don't want to seem too awkward towards her, but I don't want to give her the vibe that I'm leaping for joy to be her friend again.
"It's been a long time since we've seen each other," she quietly says, tracing her fingers over a carving made on the wooden tables. "How've you been all these years?"
"Good," I say. My cheeks are burning with nervousness as I stare directly at my fidgeting hands. "I'm good."
"That's cool," She distractedly says, glancing over at the girls in front of us who are waving at her. "I have to go, sorry, I'll meet up with you later though."
She gets up from her chair and walks over three rows in front of us to her other cooler friends. I don't watch in envy or admiration, but instead curiosity. Alexis had really changed, at least she had enough change to not start ordering me around the second she saw me like she used to.
Suddenly, a gruffy male teacher with auburn hair with spots of grey walks in the classroom and he takes out a clipboard and starts calling out our names. Emily straightens herself up and gets ready for her name to be called out while the rest of us stare down at the desks in front of us.
"Alright," the teacher at the front of the room says. "I will be handing out locker assignments. Here, uh, locker 234 goes to Emily Averis."
Emily goes up to the front of the classroom quickly and carefully takes her lock that's been laid for her on the desk. The teacher is about to say the next lucky name on the list, but a boy covered in dirty rain water slams open the door, leaving a trail of mud behind him.
"Please have a seat," the teacher menacingly says, trying to keep his composure.
The boy who was late scans around the whole classroom for a seat, but only manages to find one next to me that Alexis had sat prior to him. He takes his seat quickly next to me, and we don't talk or make eye contact.
"Next, Jolene Beverly. Locker 235."
A pudgy short girl with acne covered all over her face slowly sways over to the front, clutching her books in her hands and looking down at her second-hand shoes. Alexis and her friends exchange amused looks, and Lorelei expresses sadness for that girl. I do too, but I'm not the one that shows emotion on my face.
The teacher continues boredly calling out our names and handing us our locker assignments, then the teacher starts lecturing us all about the rules that we have to follow. This includes no phones out during school time, always follow dress code and basically everything you can think of.
Midway of the teacher explaining the dress code rules, his gaze advertently shifts towards the short blonde sitting next to Alexis as he looks down at her outfit choice and shakes his head.
She was wearing a pale yellow strapless dress that had little daisies each embroidered almost perfectly onto each area of fabric. It must've cost a lot, but it's also very revealing. Her entire backside is exposed with a fancy hole cut out in the back. The length of her dress is shorter than a Oompa Loompa, and it barely makes it up to her thighs.
The old teacher sighs and he mumbles something about letting her off since today was our first day. Alexis and her friends quietly laugh while the teacher isn't noticing because he's writing on the whiteboard something about himself.
While he is distracted, Lilac passes me a note with the words written I hate school. I look back at her and I mouth, who doesn't. Probably everyone except for Emily and Lorelei. They both freakishly love school, and they're both really enthusiastic about everything.
