Me - Hey, have you heard from Tina recently?

Kaya - No, sorry... Also, do you know how to do question five from that practise test? The trigonometry sine/cosine whatever rule?

Me - Oh yeah, I'll send you a picture of my working out later. Don't worry.

Kaya - Thanks :)

I stomp down the halls of our high school, looking for Lorelei. Against my wishes, I had just recently found out from Tyler - who was on the prom committee that she had just signed me up for prom queen. You could imagine my shock when he came up to me, and wished me luck on my campaign.

"LORELEI!" I shrieked, bursting into an empty classroom. Sure enough, Lorelei, Emily and Alice were all inside printing out copies of my campaign posters they were about to put up. "DID YOU JUST SIGN ME UP FOR-"

"Hey, I mean, you might win..?"

"I ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT I'M NOT DOING IT! I'M GOING TO EMBARRASS MYSELF, AND I SERIOUSLY DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ALEXIS EVER AGAIN FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR."

"I mean, we've already put up a couple of posters," Alice shrugs - taking out more from the printer. "How many have we put around..? Like, more than ten, definitely."

"Where'd you guys even get that photo?!" I accused, pointing at their posters.

It was a picture of me, while we were on our (horrible) camping trip. In order to get to the campsite, we had to go on a two hour hike through a meadow of dandelions. Somehow, somebody managed to get a photo of me smiling like an idiot, photogenically posing with the flowers. I'm not going to lie, it definitely wasn't a bad looking poster - some would say that it looked good. But that didn't mean that I wasn't still mad, especially since they've put at least more than ten posters.

"Guys, listen, I don't want to run for prom queen. I really don't want that kind of publicity, if you're all so dedicated why don't you run for it yourselves?"

"Who said that we wanted to be prom queen?" Emily disgustedly says, scrunching up her nose. "We just don't want to have Alexis as prom queen, and it's fun seeing you all flustered like this."

"What the fuck-"

"GUYS!" Jolene shrieks, bursting through the door into the classroom. She pants, catching her breath for a moment before screaming even louder. "JASMINE, ALEXIS WANTS TO SEE YOU."

"YEAH!" Angel adds in after running behind Jolene, "ALEXIS OUR QUEEN SENT ME HERE TO MAKE SURE THAT JOLENE TOLD YOU. BUT ANYWAYS, YEAH, SHE WANTS TO SEE YOU IN TEN MINUTES IN THE GIRLS BATHROOM - AND IF YOU DO NOT TURN UP THERE IS A MAKEUP MEETING AT TWO AM IN THE MORNING IN THE BOYS BATHROOM."

"Why would I turn up at school at two in the morning, and why the hell would I enter the boys bathroom?"

"What's with all the yelling?" Shawn suddenly says, popping his head into the classroom. "Did something happen?" He sees the posters Lorelei is conveniently showing off, and I internally cringe. "You're running for prom queen? That's so cool, because I'm running for prom king! Don't tell my girlfriend, but I hope you win!"

"Wait what?" Angel dumbfoundedly says, looking curiously at Shawn.

"What?"

"What did you just say?"

"I didn't say anything," he shrugs innocently. "Anyways, good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it." He does a peace sign, smiling brightly at me and then skips off down the halls. My heart feels warm and fuzzy, but the feeling immediately goes away when Alice starts violently shaking me.

"Are you going to the showdown with Alexis?"

"Oh, obviously not," I straightforwardly replied. "I already said that I didn't want to get involved with her."

"You must go though," Angel reasons.

"Yes, you must," Alice agrees. Something flickers in her eye, and I can tell that she knows something about this. "You must go, it'll change your life."

I inwardly sighed. "Fine, I'll go now. Lorelei, Emily, don't make any more copies of those posters."

As I leave the classroom, I hear Angel loudly say: "She said that you guys couldn't make them anymore, but she never said anything about me." Everybody starts giggling like crazy.

"Angel, seriously? That was such a bad lie." Lorelei accuses.

"What do you mean? It was great!" Angel chirps back.

"Our queen Alexis?"

"A makeup meeting at two in the morning in the boys bathroom?"

"Hey, I mean, it worked. She's going over to the girls bathroom, right?"

"Why would you make her go to the girls bathroom, you know who won't even be allowed to go in because-"

"OH FRICK!" She cries out, and then runs after me, aggressively tapping on my shoulder. I turn around, and see her desperate face, her eyes huge."Uh, Alexis changed the meeting place. It's in the auditorium now."

"You guys do realise I could hear every word that you just said," I pointed out. "What is going on?"

Alice, Lorelei and Emily slowly trudge out of the classroom to meet my eyes.

"All I want to know, Angel, when did you start being friends with us? I thought you were Alexis' slave or something."

"Jasmine that is not very nice-"

"It's okay Lorelei," Angel smiles. "She's not totally wrong, yeah, we're all Alexis' slaves. But I've realised that maybe it isn't the healthiest relationship."

She just realised? Seriously, being a slave in any way does not sound scary. I mean, some people take slaves and put it in a whole new concept, which just makes it really weird. My mind shudders with fear as I think about all of the poorly written fanfictions I read on Alice's phone - and I suddenly want to rinse myself with holy water.

"The thing is, Alexis isn't meeting you. She doesn't even know that you're running yet, but you might know who's meeting you..."

"Who?"

"You just talked to him three minutes ago," Emily clarifies.

Oh, they're talking about Shawn. Wait, why him? What the hell is going on?

"Why?"

"Oh... You'll know..." Emily mischievously smiles, rubbing her hands together.
