Right on cue, the music starts playing through the speakers, and as soon as Alexis opens her mouth, I know that I don't stand a chance against her.

She's so much better than me.

-- ------ --

It's been four days since the audition. Four days since I knew I wasn't going to get the lead role, or any role. Jolene keeps on assuring me that I'll be fine, and she always reminds me that I'm talented or some shit.

If only some people were like Jolene, I think that God wouldn't have summoned that flood that nearly destroyed us and everything else.

Claudia heard about my audition from Alexis's older sister. Aileen.

Aileen is that nice popular girl that everyone wants to be friends with. She looks just like Alexis, but she acts nothing like her. Part of me wonders how Alexis turned out like how she did while Aileen turned out being one of the nicest girls.

But I guess it did kinda come at a price. Aileen isn't smart. Her average GPA is 1.3, don't ask me how she managed to get that low. I don't think she cares either.

I'm pretty sure she invests almost all of her time into cheerleading instead of actually studying.

Last time I heard, she wasn't applying for any college. And instead, she was going to cheer professionally and assist our cheerleading coach. It wasn't a bad idea, except for the fact she's not really good at cheerleading either.

Once I saw her accidentally throw up her pom poms into the sky, and it hit our old cheerleading coach in the head and gave her a concussion. She resigned the next day and sued Aileen for assault. Aileen's mum is a lawyer, I think that's where Claudia got the idea of becoming one after seeing Aileen's mum look through sheets of papers and filed subpoenas.

From what I've heard about the court case, they agreed to a settlement of 2000$ which originally was meant to be 50,000$ because the pompom was made from hard steel and the strings coming out were made from sharp sticks of iron.

The pom pom not only gave her a concussion, but they also stabbed her in the skull (luckily not too badly). I heard the sticks disrupted her hair follicles or something, and now her hair won't grow back due to extensive hair damage.

I'm not sure about you, but I'm sure that settlement should've been more. Aileen's mum is a good lawyer though. I don't know how she exactly did it, but that's none of my concern.

"Did you get an email?" Jolene suddenly says, interrupting my conversation with myself.

"What email?"

"Callbacks?"

"What?"

"Check."

I send a worried look over to Jolene as I pull up my emails on chrome. Sure enough, there;s a blue dot marked on a new email that had been sent to me. I eagerly open and read it.

Hello valued customer!

We'd love to let you know about our new Pizza deal down at Antonios' pizza delivery restura-

Wrong email.

There's another email above it talking about a new Johnny Fish and Chippery which goes along the lines of:

Hi potential customer!

We'd love to have you down at the Johnny Fish and Chippery for you to get your groove on and bust out a dance on the dance floor!

I don't know why I'm getting more spam emails more often. Maybe it's because as a child I signed up my email for numerous websites about food and clothing and all that dumb shit your nine year old self does. Or maybe it was just me. Maybe I was just a dumb kid.
