•Ch. 9•

Aether had dragged Paimon to the side as they left more space for me and the ruined guard to fight. Although I've never taken fighting classes, nor do I even know how to fight, I just did the basic swings and a charge attack if I could... didn't think I would be so agile and can jump high when fighting... I should study more into this to get used to it. "Playtime's over," I said as I ran and jumped up in the air, swirling my scythe and slashing the wooden bot down in one go. 

I've seen a lot of anime heroes do that and their enemies explode like a pinata when it's hit with a bat... But this one, it did explode, however, the slash-cut I made on it seems to have captured the thing and had created a dimensional box around it slowly shrinking it to the size of a dice.

Once it was done, the dice-like cube floats over to me and lands in my hand. "Interesting..." I hummed to myself in this calculation.

Aether looked at me for a moment with a concerned look in his eyes.

"Well the problem has been solved," I said as I put the dice in my pocket for now and turned to look at Izzard, Kaeya, and the knights.

"How embarrassing.." Izzard grumbled under his breath as he slumps down a bit, "having my life save by a girl.."

"IS there something wrong with being saved by me? Perhaps I should have let the ruined guard take you." I replied with a scoff, crossing my arms.

"N-No no! Th-That won't...be necessary.." Izzard said shaking his head vigorously.

"And don't forget your promise...or that will be the least of your worries," Kaeya added in glaring at the thief.

"Hey! Is this how the Knights of Favonius treat the people they catch?" Izzard replied as Kaeya chuckled.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding," He said to him, "Alright, take him back." He said to the other two knights.

"Sir, yes sir," One knight said before looking at me, Aether, and Paimon. "Uh... sir, should we take these three in as well?"

"What?!" Paimon exclaimed.

I don't know what this case is about at all so I just stood there confused, twirling the Glazed Lily in between my thumb and first finger.

"Haha, of course not," Kaeya replied with a small laugh, "Those two over there are the reason they made this arrest possible... however.." Kaeya went on as he looked at me and crossed his arms. "I'm not so sure about her..."

"Wait, she's with me, she's a companion I made a wish on." Aether said stepping up in front of me, "I dragged her into this mess without completely explaining to her about our situation."

"Is that so? A companion you say, and what is her name so that we may not be strangers anymore?" Kaeya asked out of curiosity.

"IF you must know," I replied and hesitated a bit, "My name is Y/n L/n, a pleasure to meet you," I added with a casual tone. Even though I want to run up to him and give him the biggest bearhug there ever existed. 

Kaeya stood there for a moment. "...Oh?" Was all he said and looked at me closely. My appearance did seem different from his perspective, and that it is very different from my original appearance. "I see, haha for a moment I thought you really are that someone... with the same name and last name as well, though it could be coincidental."

"That right? I see, it must be interesting to know that there is someone out there with the same first and last name such as mine." I replied crossing my arms, "I wish to meet this person someday, perhaps even have some teatime with her."

"Yes, she is very fond of making friends... though It would also be impossible for you to talk to her at the moment.." Kaeya said as the look in his eye suddenly shows the sign of some sort of emotion. I've always been good at telling other people's emotions by looking into their eyes... Kaeya seemingly is not open to this kind of topic... maybe I shouldn't have brought it up...

A Few minutes later...

Aether, Paimon, and I finally left the ruins as Paimon was scowling the entire way out. "I can't believe we went through all that trouble.. only to get this weird sword from Kaeya!" 

"Harbinger of Dawn doesn't seem so bad," I replied with a shrug. 

"Well to YOU it isn't, you don't even use a sword!" Paimon exclaimed.

"Which reminds me.. that.. thing you did, with the cube and all, did you know you can do that?" Aether asked.

"That? ... no, I don't recall... hell, I don't even know I could fight." I replied and crossing my arms to think. "I wonder what else I can do..."

Aether looked up at her for a moment in wonder... Thinking maybe I'm somewhat related to the unknown god... that cube ability did seem rather similar.... but different at the same time. Maybe when the time comes... I'll ask her... He thought to himself

"Say! Lets head to Monstadt and see if Katheryn has any commissions for us today!" Paimon said as she flies ahead of us. Aether follows behind as I did as well... though, I had to stop for a moment to look around my surroundings. The sense of being watched was... unsettling in some sort. I looked both left and right, before spotting a figure just high above a cliff, watching us. The silhouette was hard to figure out, but I can instantly guess it was someone with a cape. "Last one to Monstadt is a rotten egg!" I heard Paimon shouting before turning around and began running after them.

"Wait for me dammit!" I called out to them.

The next day...

Third Person's POV:

The Dawn Winery was the same as ever, still have the same feeling in the air. Kaeya was reading a few letters and some notes he had taken down to report back to Jean later when he gets to Monstadt... though, something has been bothering him for sometime since yesterday.. "Y/n.... Y/n L/n.... Is it really a mere coincidence that a person can claim such a name... a unique name at that.. disgrace to whoever decided to take that name... for shame on them..." He mumbled before pausing.. could it be... no, it's not possible. She died four years ago. 

"Ah, here you are Kaeya," An older voice said behind him as Kaeya turned his head to look at the old man before him.

"Father, you shouldn't be up and about you know?" Kaeya replied and stood up, putting the letters aside and helping Crepus take a seat on the chair he was using not a moment ago. "I worry your illness is going to trouble you more..."

"Nonesense, I've been bed ridden since that horrendous day..." Crepus said as he sets his cane to the side and lets out a deep sigh. Kaeya pulled up a seat beside him and sat down in silence, looking towards the fireplace as the burning wood crackle in the heat of the flames. "Kaeya, stop blaming yourself... you mustn't let the past get the better of you... Y/n wouldn't want you to be sad now would she?"

"I know father... but on that day... I still believed N/n would have lived.. if I gotten there on time..." Kaeya replied quiet before letting out a deep sigh, "Now this new companion the traveler has claims her name is Y/n L/n, it has to be a joke that someone is imposing as her." 

"Perhaps it is a relative of hers? A twin perhaps?" Crepus asked, humming in wonder. "There are many possibilities for this person to claim she is Y/n L/n."

"But she doesn't look like the Y/n I know though, so-"

"Ahaha, have you ever heard of the term 'looks can be deceiving'? She may or may not be Y/n, until you get to her no?" Crepus said and looked at the Calvary captain.

They both looked at each other in silence before Kaeya rolled his eyes. "Father, are you serious right now? At this time?" He groaned in frustration as Crepus lets out a hearty laugh. 

The main door opens as a familiar redhead comes in the manor. "I'm home," He said, setting his black coat aside.

"Ah, welcome home, brother," Kaeya said as he stood up to greet Diluc, "You seemed to be home quite early today, how was work in Angel Share?"

"The usual," Diluc replied before pausing and looking at Kaeya. He knows him better than anyone. When he asks how Angel Share was or how his work was today, something definitely must've happened. "And you?" He asked, crossing his arms, "how was your recent mission in catching those thieves that call themselves Treasure Hoarders?"

Kaeya only chuckled. "You'll be quite enticed.."
