After sometime and finally settling down, I ordered a plate of almond tofu for Xiao so he doesn't feel too guarded around the others. Paimon had left the explanation to me as usual of the current situation.
"Rex Lapis..." Xiao said once I was finished telling him what we had encounter back in Liyue Harbor, "How could this be...? I... can't imagine it. Though times have changed, I've never imagined a Liyue without him." He explained as he stared at the almond tofu served in front of him as Dottie was just listening to their conversation in silence while bending a metal spoon in his hand.
"The ruling Qixing... Just what role have they played in this?" Xiao asked. I scratched my head a bit trying to find the right answer. He seems to understand my body language as he crosses his arms. "...I will seek Moon Carver, Mountain Shaper, and Cloud Retainer. It is time they too made their decisions..."
"Will the adepti take over his role in Liyue?" Aether asked. I thought for a moment before adding to the question as well.
"Will the adepti interrogate the Qixing?"
"Adepti do not turn on their responsibilities..." Xiao replied, "I have my reasons to not want to be tainted by the mortal realm, but... responsibilities are responsibilities. Our god is the God of Contracts after all..." He began to stand up with the plate of almond tofu in his hand and Paimon sprung into action.
"Wait! Paimon still has one last question." She began and Xiao looked at her.
"Hmm?"
"That... Dusky Ming. She's..."
"When conquering demons, on occasion, you can come across spirits who have never hurt anyone, yet are also not yet able to be moved on." Xiao explained as I narrow my eyes in confusion. "So I asked the innkeeper and the boss if they could keep her here for a time."
"So really, Wangshu Inn was looking after her! Really keeping a wide range of business going, huh!" Paimon said with relief.
Strange... I know looking for a ghost was in the quest.. but I didn't see Aether or Paimon leaving Wangshu Inn at all. Could the story still be on the same path? If so... My possibility of saving a few characters lives might become impossible... Great... I need a backup plan just in case if it does go down the same as the storyline...
"Hello??? Earth to Y/n!" Paimon called my attention as I snapped from my thoughts and looked at her. "What's wrong? We're on our to visit the other adepti unless you want to be left behind!"
"Ah, it's nothing Paimon." I replied with a smile, "however... Why don't you two go on ahead of me, I'm fine being on my own for the time being, there's somethings that I need to... Check."
Paimon only put her arms behind her back and tilts her head in confusion at me.
"Don't worry, I'm sure communication with the rest of the adepti will be smooth sailing for you two now." I assured her with a smile. "To cut it short... This is where we part ways. At least, for now."
"Do you... Really need to go?" Aether asked, there was a glimmer of sadness in his eyes for a moment. He didn't want to part ways so quickly.
I looked at the boys and Paimon for a moment and sighs. Why does this feel like I'm choosing mass genocide over friendship?
"I... Have to do something first." I said with a wry smile. "I'd love to meet the other Adepti with you but uh... I need to do some planning."

It took a while to convince the others but I manage to finally separate from the rest of them... Even from Dottie, good thing Aether and the others dragged him with them kicking and screaming... Literally. Now then... Back to thinking about the issue... The disaster that's about to come up that involves Aether becoming a wanted fugitive-
I stopped in my tracks for a moment and found a stack of... Primogems inside a large circle. Ha, nice try whoever set this up, I ain't falling for some simple trick like that!
