Have you ever felt that you want to enjoy eating...but someone is staring at you so intently that it makes you uncomfortable?
Yeah, that's me...
"Dottie..." I began
"Yes ma'am?" Dottie replied instantly with his shining red ruby eyes.
"...Can you not.. stare at me while I'm eating?" I asked with a nervous eye smile. "It's very...distracting... and uncomfortable."
"Really? Then... how would I learn to eat?" Dottie asked as he tilts his head in confusion. I was taken a back a bit and looked at him. Could he be lying? Children are experts when it comes to lying after all...
"mm... Well... Okay how about I teach you to eat? You have your own food which is left untouch.." I said as I reached over and cut a few sliced of the cooked meat and picked it up with the fork. "here comes the airplane~ Rrrrrrrr"
Dottie only looked at me with a slight hint of disgust but hide it within seconds before opening his mouth, accepting food given to him as he chewed it slowly. His eyes lit up and seemed to enjoy the food as he continues to chew a little quicker now. "Mm! delicious!" He commented as he scoots his chair closer to the table as I continue to cut him tiny pieces and spoon feedin him, like a mother to her child. Withen minutes, his plate was empty and he drank down his water as I got back to eating my own food while he busied himself with finishing his drink.
I soon finished my own food as me and Dottie talked a bit. I think I got to know him a bit. His father was a scientist that was outcasted for his insane experiments... what caught my interest in that topic was that his father was from Sumeru.
"I don't see what HE did wrong. If anything, he would have done the entire nation of Sumeru a huge favor!" Dottie saicd, stabbing his fork on the wooden table so hard, it actually penetrated right through.. "But he'll get back there eventually.. he will indeed."
I slightly shivered from his words before perking up at the arriving people from the Wangshu Inn. "Aether, Venti, Paimon, over here..!" I said waving my arm at them, standing up to greet them. Behind them tailed the adeptus I haven't seen in a long time.. "I see that you manage to bring the adeptus down, he-" I began before feeling an immense tight hug. I looked down and see that the said adptus was now bear hugging me. "-llo..??"
Earlier that time...
"Tone-Deaf Bard You-!!!" Paimon began as Venti carried a basket full of wine. Ones he ordered for himself and leaving Aether to pay for the rest.
Aether only shook his head.
Paimon crosses her arms with a clear face of being left unamused and rolled her eyes. "Anyways, Let's take a look. Paimon reckons he'll be on the balcony. Heh, doubt we're going to find him in the kitchen or around here." Aether nodded his head, taking a good look around first before walking up the stairs that led to the balcony. Once they got upstairs, they take a good look around the balcony, but there's no one to be seen. Aether walked up to the wooden railing and stop to admire the view. Paimon looked to her left and to her right before doing a barrel roll in midair. "Oh? He's not here?"
After some time she joins Aether to admire the scenery with him. "So, Paimon is curious," she began and Aether looked at Paimon. "You and Tone-Deaf Bard seem to be at each other's throats on our way here, is there a reason?"
Aether only let a single sweat run down the side of his cheek and shook his head, the flustered red color betraying his answer.
"Uh-huh," Paimon said putting her thumb and index finger under her chin in suspicion. "Well, it seems to Paimon it has something to do with Y/n..."
"You know of that name?" A voice came from beside the two of them, startling Aether and Paimon at the same time.
"WAH!! oh you! Don't scare Paimon like that!" Paimon exclaimed as she whined and stopped her tiny fit in the air.
Xiao has finally appeared before them. He looked to the two of them in silence. "Oh. It's you two." He began in a monotone, "Why do you insist on getting involved in the world of demons and adepti? You're breaking the rules too often... And that name..." He trailed off and looked at Paimon who was already scared out of her wits. "Why did you speak of a dead.... Person's name..."
"Huh? Dead?" Paimon repeated and came to a conclusion that maybe Y/n and Xiao had met before and had a bad impression on each other! "Ah! No no! It's nothing like that," Paimon began as she slowly flies behind Aether to shield herself. "Other than that... Paimon still doesn't get it.. the first part of your sentence I mean.."
"Too much contact with our world is breaking the rules." Xiao explained, "Mortal souls are not as robust as those of adepti, nor can your blood carry this level of adeptal energy... It's for your own good. Leave. Now."
"Wait a sec, we came here to-"
Xiao disappears before she could even finish her sentence, which left Paimon quite mad.
"Argh! Paimon's... peeved!" She exclaimed as Aether shook his head in silence and sighs. "All he does is think about himself! Paimon wants to give him an ugly nickname... but if you tick off an adeptus, the only thing you'll probably ever find in treasure chests is cabbages! Bleurgh!" She added shaking her head before an idea popped in her mind. "Oh I know! Fine then Adeptus Xiao~" She began and Aether immediately picked up on her backup plan.
"Paimon-"
"If you don't want to talk to us, then we'll find the other adepti! Y/n seem to know them all so she do the talk for-"
"Dare you speak her name again in such a manner, you'll be losing your tongue." Xiao reappeared behind Paimon who screeched her head in fright. Xiao only crossed his arms and looked at them. "You already spoke... Her name twice... Could it be?" He looked at Aether who silently gave a small stare back. Xiao was hesitant and lowered his arms to his side and looked at bother Aether and Paimon in a calm nonchalant manner. "....take me to her."
Present time...
"It's really you.... It's really....." Xiao muttered, his hug getting tighter as his shoulders shook.
I was hesitant at first... But it must be connected to my past experiences when I was younger... However....
I don't recall those events as much anymore.
"We should give them some space," Paimon said with an eye smile. "Seems that Paimon was right! They were already acquaintances before like the other adeptus! We shouldn't have problems with the other two!.....er... Traveler? Tone-Deaf Bard?" She began and notice their expression, their envious expression. Even Venti stopped looking happy for a second before getting back to drinking his jug of wine and skipping over to the table of food where Dottie was also staring with envy... Gnawing on his thumb and a visible dark expression in his face that even Paimon found quite... Disturbing. "A-Anyway, we should eat and chat about the issue with Xiao!" She said trying to lighten the mood.... Which she was clearly failing to even change the sudden heavy atmosphere.
