B/n's POV:
Sumeru
"No, that's not right, you match the inscription to this one on the other chart. See the similarities in its pattern?" I said to a researcher just outside the Academy. "Seriously dude, it's just like spot the difference... What's so hard about decoding inscribed messages on old stone tablets.." I added with a huff as the researcher, who I learned the name to be Hosseini, the same researcher who does the event quests circling around Energy Amplifiers, curiously read through his notes in astonishment.
"A-Are you sure you don't attend any high intelligent academy of sort for a nation? ANY nation??" He asked, looking back at me with the same wide eyes.
"Yes bro, I'm just someone who loves reading encrypted messages for so long I practically understand them," I replied with a monotone voice.
"Oh-"
"Bitch of course I don't! Gah... Where did those two run off to! They seriously can't be thinking about leaving me behind here in this Academy... These researchers here are thirsty for knowledge..." I muttered under my breath before leaving Hosseini to his own rambling and wandering down the busy streets... Maybe I could find a map of Teyvat somewhere and start my journey there.
I walked to the plaza of the city, looking from billboard to billboard to find at least one that has a map. It took a good few minutes until I did find one, covered with other notes on top of it. I looked left and right before taking the map as I looked at each and every location. I only ended up clicking my tongue. "This map is so old, its names are all either smudged or scratched out.. At least Liyue looks familiar..."
"did you say Liyue Mr?" A voice asked.
I looked over to where the voice came from but found no one.
"Down here, mister!" The voice said as I looked down to see a little girl before in a cute green dress and two yellow bells on her twin brunette hair buns. she was jumping around, but making sure not to jump around too much so the items she carries on her back won't fall out.
"Oh hello there little one," I said with a smile. Stange... she looks familiar...
"I heard you said Liyue, Mister," The child repeated, "I lost my map a few days back and have been trying to get a new one since I arrived."
"Well, too bad kid, this map is a bust, the names are all scratched and smudged. Crinkly and can easily be ripped." I replied as I waved the map above her head. "Say, your outfit tells me you aren't from around here... Liyue I assume?"
The little girl was jumping up and down trying to reach for the map in my hand before she puffed her cheeks. "Well, I wouldn't have asked when you said Liyue in the first place... but I don't think I've seen you before." The girl said and held her hand up to me. "My name is Yaoyao!"
Yaoyao...wait, isn't that the name of the girl that was supposed to be released in the earlier updates of the Lantern Rite but never was and suppose to be the first Dendro character that everyone had been anticipating her arrival forever??? I looked down at her. She had big hazel eyes, matching twin bells on her twin buns, and even her outfit looked exactly like the first time he saw the spoiler for her... IT REALLY IS HER!!
"I'm........B/n," I said, averting my eyes to avoid the awkward feeling of the atmosphere.
"B/n? Hm... that's a.... strange name. I never heard of it before. But it's nice to know!" She said and beams happily at him. I had to shield my eyes. Save me Lord Barbatos from this sweet child...
On the Road near Dawn Winery...
Venti sneezes and sniffles.
"You good Venti?" Y/n asked as she gathered some sweet flowers and handed them over to Aether who had a bag of ingredients on him.
"Yeah... I feel like I just got a cold..." He said and sniffled again before they continue their walk, heading to Liyue. Though, Y/n would stop momentarily to look at the Winery. Yep.... still the same as it was in the past... She wonders if the old man Ragnvindr was truly still alive...
"Y/n come on! Don't get left behind!" She heard Paimon call out to her.
"Alright, I'm coming," She called back before picking up a few radishes and carrots off the ground and regrouping with the two Anemo boys.
Back in Sumeru City...
I walked to various shops with Yaoyao, both of us looking for a map of Teyvat together to get around the region better... Still no luck... Yaoyao was rather optimistic and open-minded, which draws a lot of attention from many people. Me? I just stand there like a clueless idiot and gypsies of all sorts approach me in a seductive manner. Why am I so different, author? Why can't I be cute as Yaoyao? No fair...
"Hey, there sugar~ are you alone~?" One asked as the others came up as well. They all seem to be coming from a tavern not too far from the shops Yaoyao and I were at... Oh god if that place is a brothel, you can see me jumping into the spiral abyss instead to end my life...
"No, I'm with a little girl, she's my...travel buddy.. and we were looking for maps to help us on our journey..?" I said with uncertainty.
At this point, I have completely lost track of Yaoyao in the crowded shopping streets, which leaves me with these people. Suddenly, a familiar voice called out in the crowd.
"There you are, I was beginning to think you were kidnapped..."
It was Cyno and he looked like he ran a marathon just now from the sweat dripping off his face and his bare chest. "Apologize ladies, but I must borrow your customer, for now, you see, he is new around the city and barely knows how to get around. Thank you very much for taking care of him." He said. Before any of the ladies could say anything, I was pulled away from them and Cyno led me away from them and swiftly through the crowd.
"Womanizer much?" Collei said with a huff as she spotted us approaching her. Yaoyao was beside her, looking at the map of teyvat. Seems she found one.
"Hey, they came up to me and I could barely move around," I replied with a scowl. "Yare yare daze..."
"Hmph, whatever your reason is, I don't really care." She replied as Cyno and I reacted with a deadpan expression at the same time.
You clearly do, Collei...
"Here's yours," Cyno said as he handed me a Teyvat map and a handbook. "With these, you can be able to travel safely around each region now. Be sure to read them carefully..."
"Aw so sweet Cyno, thanks bud, you're a life saver~," I said with an eye smile.
In response, he just moved his anubis-like hat down to cover half his face in silence... Huh, I could have sworn his face was red.
"Well now that we have the map, let's go already," Collei said as she took Yaoyao's hand.
"Yea sure- wait... we???" I repeated after her.
"Oh right, we decided we'd travel with you," Collei said looking back to me with a shrug of her shoulders, before continuing to walk ahead of me and Cyno with Yaoyao.
Cyno was in deep thought before realizing what she meant and fixed his hat before running up to her to catch up. "Hold on a second, since when did I agree to join...?"
Aiyah... so I already started a team of my own... huh, Starter pack I guess?
