*Hyejoo's POV *
We finished our warmup and then the coach called us to her. She gave us one last pep talk before the game and then we went to the court, taking our positions, waiting for the referee's whistle to signal as to start. Before that, the president of our college, Bae Joo-Hyun, came onto a small stage that was set up for this occasion only and gave a speech, thanking the YGU team for taking part in the tournament, as well as the sports federation for organizing the whole event. She wished both teams good luck and then separately thanked our team and coach for working hard. As she spoke, everyone just went quiet, but the moment she finished her speech, the whole stadium started clapping and whistling. The president was widely respected throughout the whole college, so it was not surprising that her speech got such a positive response. Just a minute before the referee's whistle, I heard Chaewon's voice coming from the tribunes:
"HYEJOOYAAAH!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!"- I looked at her and saw her smiling, which made me smile as well. It was really reassuring to have her and everyone else supporting our team.
Suddenly, the whistle was heard. The referee signaled us to start the game. And so we did.
YGU really did have a strong team. The one who was especially difficult to play against was the team captain, Park Chaeyoung, as she is pretty quick and tall. But, that did not stop us from winning. The final results were 60-45, in our favor. Sooyoung managed to be the top scorer of the game, because of which the whole stadium was chanting her name. Hyunjin was probably the happiest she's ever been, because the moment the game ended, she rushed onto the tribunes and went up to Heejin, taking her into her arms and spinning until they both got dizzy. I wasn't so energetic but still went up to Chaewon, who congratulated me and hugged and kissed me multiple times, even though I desperately needed a shower. This meant that we had made it to the quarter-finals- only two wins to go until the finale. I could feel my determination to win getting bigger and bigger.
After the game, the dressing room was louder than ever. Sooyoung was sitting on Ryujin's shoulders and was basically bathing in fame. At some point, coach Lee told us to celebrate when we're out of the dressing room and practically commanded us to shower and get into normal clothes. So, after we did all she asked for, she took us to a restaurant and fed us a lot, saying that she wanted us to restore our energy. She was, of course, the one who paid for everything and promised that she would do this after every game, even if we ended up losing.
"Everyone who went out on the court today showed themselves really well, there were some things that could have been done differently but, in the end, everything worked out, so, good job girls. Sooyoung, you seemed especially fired up today. I hope that you can keep this same determination until the very end"- the coach spoke to us after she finished her portion of noodles.
"Oh, coach, be sure that I will, I couldn't be more thrilled to crush our next opponent"- said Sooyoung who was almost literally on fire from the amount of energy she was emitting.
"Alright, Sooyoung, I know you're excited, but try to not let this win get to your head. Getting overly confident is the last thing the team needs to be doing"- said Haseul.
"Yeah, Seul's right, you need to chill out a little bit"- said Hyunjin.
"Said the girl who rushed to the tribunes the moment the game ended just to spin her girlfriend in the air for a good five minutes"- said Ryujin, which caused her to receive a glare from Hyunjin.
"Hyunjin's whipped"- I said and couldn't escape the nudge that came from the team captain.
"You can't be the one talking, you're literally the biggest simp for Chaewon"- said Sooyoung and, this time, I was the one glaring at her.
