CHAPTER 16

Red’s POV

I immediately left the room the moment my anger subsided. I was so mad. I felt like I was cheated. The possibility of your friend probably hooking up with your wife is not exactly a good thing to find out. Good thing the phone does not have a password. I was able to scan her phone calls and messages.

They have been communicating all along and here I am, so stupid not to know what’s going on. Yun ang kinaiinis ko! Ang malamangan ako! Everything’s planned. Everything should go the way it should and because of Louie getting into the picture, I have to change some of my plans as soon as possible. The good thing about scanning her messages is that at least, I don’t see ‘I love you’ and sweet messages in her phone. Maingat din si Yumi. Unfortunately, she was dumb enough to forget that I’m the one paying her bills.

I then went inside my room. I don’t even have a clue as to who I’m mad at. I’m mad at Yumi, at Louie, at Yumi’s dad, damn! I’m even mad at myself! I held on to the phone really tight and threw it at the wall in my room. Basag! Bahala na ang mga maids sa kalat.

I immediately went in the shower to cool myself off. I admit of being with different kinds of girls, but Yumi’s the only girl that I’ve been so rough at. Nope! My conscience is not bothering me at all. Let’s just say, she’s destined to be in that position because she’s an Enriquez.

I admit, minahal ko si Yumi. I loved her until I found out whose daughter she is. I dreamt of having a family with her, of her being the mother of my children, I dreamt of us being together until we get old. Nasaktan din ako when I found out that she’s her father’s daughter.

I know she hates me so much for forcing myself to her. Pareho lang din kami. I hate myself too. I have always hated myself. Pero wala nang dapat makinabang sa kaniya. Sakin lang siya. Hindi siya pwedeng mapunta kay Louie o kahit na sino man.

Yumi’s POV

Halos isang buwan na rin nang kinuha ni Red sa akin yung phone na binigay niya. Hindi ko na nakakausap sina mommy. I miss them so much already. Sometimes, pag wala si Red, I borrow Manang’s phone pero hindi ko rin naman sila matawagan o matext dahil baka malaman ni Red na may phone pa akong ginagamit. Tanging si Louie lang ang nakakausap ko sa phone ni Manang. God! I really want to leave this place.

It was late in the evening when I heard someone knock on my door, which woke me up.

“Yumi hija, gising ka pa ba?” Si manang pala.

“Opo, manang. Pasok po kayo” I answered. I don’t lock my door. Red didn’t want me to.

“Hija, nagtext kasi sakin si Louie. May importante daw siyang sasabihin”

“Thank you po, Manang” She gave me her phone, and I texted Louie to call me. It did not take a minute before Louie called back.

[Yumi, thank God, you’re awake] Louie answered.

“Nagtext ka daw kasi sabi ni manang. May nangyari ba?” I asked. Manang was just listening to me. Well, more likely serving as a lookout.
