CHAPTER 3
Mayumi’s POV
Sabi nga nila, isa sa pinakaimportanteng araw sa buhay nang isang babae ay ang araw ng kaniyang kasal. People look at you while you are walking down the aisle at tinitingnan ka like you are the most beautiful woman in the world.
This is what I feel right now. I feel like I’m the most beautiful girl in the world while I’m walking down the aisle. Lahat nang tao nakatitig sa akin and when I fixed my eyes sa mga mata nang lalaking naghihinatay sa akin sa gitna ng simbahan, that’s when I really felt that I’m beautiful.
I’m wearing a Michael Sinco off shoulder satin and lace gown. The fabric extended about 4 meters at the back where very intricate beadings were. It was very simple, yet very elegant, which was something I personally asked.
Despite my dad’s inability to walk, both my parents still walked me down the aisle. My mom was pushing his wheelchair while he held my hand. When we reached the end of the aisle, pinagsakop ng Daddy ko ang mga kamay namin ni Red. While he was holding on to both our hands, nagsalita na rin siya directing his message to my soon-to-be husband.
“Son, my princess never experienced a very extravagant life, the way I wished I would have given her. I know that you can give all of that to her. However, it is not what I ask from you. I only want you to love our princess the way we would love her or even more than we could possibly love her. That is my only wish to you” I was touched by my daddy’s message. I tried to suppress my tears, but I couldn’t. Eventually, I hugged him and kissed him on the cheeks.
I faced my dad. “I love you daddy. I will always be your princess. Hindi na po mababago iyan” Daddy smiled at me at tumulo na rin ang luha sa kaniyang mga mata. I also kissed my mom, who was also teary-eyed.
Red shook my dad’s hand and kissed my mom as well. Then, we faced the priest who was going to bless our marriage.
I was really happy the whole ceremony that I could no longer suppress those tears of joy while we were saying our vows. Other than the regular wedding vows, I added my personal message for Red.
“Babe, when I am asked who my ideal guy is, I always tell them one thing. I only want that person to be someone who has the same qualities as my dad. Someone who would love me the way my dad loves my mom and someone who would love my children the way my dad loves us. Not only are you that person whom I see those qualities, but you even gave me more than what I imagined my dream guy would be” I then added the usual vows, some tears flowing down my cheeks.
Red added his personal message for his wedding vows too. “Babe, I knew you were the one the moment I laid my eyes on you and never stopped until I finally had you. That’s why I made sure that you will only be mine and I am yours forever. In the eyes of everyone here I say that I love you” Dinagdag na rin niya ang regular wedding vows.
When the priest signaled that he may already kiss me, he kissed me sweetly on the lips, which lasted for a few seconds.
This is indeed the best day of my life, I thought.
Everything turned out really well this day. Red’s family was there, except for his mom who was still in the States as she was undergoing medication. May stage 3 lung cancer kasi si Mommy. Although she is already recovering, she is still too weak to travel. Red’s sister had to attend to their mom. I understood that completely.
