San took action within seconds. He jumped up with Wooyoung in his arms and rushed between the dancing people.
"Uhm, San, you good?", Mingi laughed behind him.
All the players were confused as to why the boy suddenly left the room so quickly. Not to mention, carrying Wooyoung in the meantime.
But San just ignored them. The ghost in his arms was more important right now.
"I-I can't hold it any l-longer", said boy panted, clinging onto the older for support.
"Please, Woo, stay strong for me. Only a little more", San desperately looked around, just to find themselves standing in the middle of a horde of dancing teenagers.
There was no place to hide and the younger couldn't hold it anymore. He had to shift back into his ghost form if he didn't want to pass out from exhaustion.
"S-Sannie, I can't-", his voice was only a whisper.
What would people think if they saw him disappearing completely?
They would go crazy for sure and Wooyoung didn't ever want to experience this.
A sudden jerk from San brought him back to reality.
"The stairs!", the older blurted out hopefully. An idea had popped up in his head when his gaze landed on the stairs leading to other rooms.
Yunho probably didn't want people to go up there, but this was an emergency. So, San didn't hesitate to sprint up the stairs, entering the first room he found and shut the door behind them.
"Thank yo-", Wooyoung whispered, before abruptly disappearing in the older's arms.
Relieved, San slid down the door until he sat on the floor and could lean his back against the wood.
"That was close."
I'm sorry.
San heard Wooyoung's voice in his head again.
"You don't have to be, it's okay. Thank you for coming with me to this party. It was...", his thoughts wandered back to their kiss, "... interesting."
They got interrupted by a knock on the door. San winced in fright. If anyone would come in and see that Wooyoung wasn't there anymore, they would ask questions.
Questions, that San couldn't answer. Not without them thinking he was crazy.
"San, are you and Woojin in there?", Yunho asked from outside the door.
"Uhm... everything's fine!"
"Well, it didn't seem like everything's fine when you two suddenly rushed away as if someone would chase you. If you don't tell me what happened now, I will just come in", Yunho pressed.
"Please leave, okay? I already said we're fine", San yelled back.
But it didn't look like Yunho would leave anytime soon, so San would either have to come up with an excuse or - as absurd as it sounded - try to tell his friends the truth again.
"Wooyoung, what if we just tell Yunho and Mingi that you're still here?", he asked into the empty space in front of him.
Are you on drugs? No. Came the immediate reply.
"But they were your best friends... don't you think they deserve to know instead of grieving over you?"
They wouldn't even believe you.
"Probably, but if you'd make yourself visible for only a short minute again we could prove that it's true-", San's eyes lit up with excitement.
"Fuck, San, I'm coming in now, please don't tell me that you two are screwing each other." With a bang, the door flew open. Luckily, San jumped away in time, so that he didn't get hit by it.
A confused expression took over Yunho's face.
"Where is Woojin?"
"Yunho, I think you should know something...", San started, still a bit unsure if his plan would work out, but he couldn't keep Wooyoungs identity a secret anymore. He wanted to talk about him with Yunho and Mingi, his best friends.
San, don't you fucking dare.
He heard the younger's voice in his head, but decided to ignore it. Wooyoung was just a little bit scared, but that would go away soon, San was sure.
"The boy who was with me... his name isn't Woojin. It's..."
Shut your fucking mouth. Now.
"Wooyoung", San finished his sentence.
"Oh, well, that's an interesting coincidence... but why did he introduce himself with a different name?", Yunho asked, scratching his neck in confusion.
"Don't you get it??", San yelled, getting frustrated at his friend's dumbness. "It's Wooyoung. Jung Wooyoung. Your best friend!"
Yunho chuckled quietly. "San, don't start this story again. I thought you finally got over it."
"You have to believe me. I- I can prove it to you!", he said in excitement.
The taller lifted one eyebrow and watched San with a look of amusement on his face. That was quite a funny show.
"Wooyoung", San called out, turning to the center of the room. "Show him that you're really here."
I can't believe you did this.
"Wooyoung, I can hear you, so I know that you're still here. Please make yourself visible. I know it's exhausting, but only for a short moment... please."
Yunho's amused grin turned into a pitiful one when he saw San desperately talking to the air.
"San, I think you should calm down from whatever trip you're on and sober up." Compassionately, he put a hand on San's shoulder.
"I'm telling the truth! Wooyoung, please show yourself!"
But the room stayed empty.
"Take a little break, San, and maybe sleep a bit. You will feel better afterwards." Yunho went to leave the room, but turned back once more, just to see San looking so broken and sad.
Slight concern for his friend took over him. Maybe, not everything he said was nonsense...
Right after Yunho left, San shut the door once again, just to kick against it in anger.
"Why didn't you fucking show up?? You embarrassed the hell out of me", he screamed, obviously directing it at the ghost that he could feel was still in the room.
"Do you think you can just use me like an exhibit? I pleaded you to not tell Yunho, but you did the exact opposite!", the ghost shouted back, appearing in front of San.
He was still so exhausted, but gathered up the last bit of strength to scream at the older. He had abused his trust. And it hurt.
It hurt to be used like this from the person he loved the most.
"I only wanted to help you!", San yelled back.
"BUT I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP. I SAID NO, BUT YOU STILL DID IT. WHY- Why must you do this to me? I thought you were different than the rest...", the younger's voice got smaller and smaller until it completely faded.
"Was that the reason why you kissed me?", the older asked, hatred visible in his cold stare.
"Don't twist the fucking facts here, YOU initiated the kiss, not me!", Wooyoung shouted, tears building up in his eyes.
For a second it was silent between them, until San spoke.
"And I would do it again."
