San was in a crisis. A mental crisis. There was a dead boy sitting on his floor.
San still had a little bit of hope that all of this was just a joke.
"If you don't believe that it's me I can prove it to you", Wooyoung said, looking at him with a mischievous smile on his face.
"How are you going to do that?", San asked, still hoping that the boy in front of him would start laughing soon and tell him that he got pranked. But nothing of this happened, instead Wooyoung suddenly disappeared through a wall.
San rubbed his eyes in disbelief and stared at the unchanged wall of his room. Maybe it was all hallucination. After all, the boy was gone now.
"Boo!"
Startled, San made a leap forward and squeaked softly. He turned around abruptly, just to see a certain dead boy standing behind him again.
"Hahaha, you should see your face right now, you look so funny", Wooyoung laughed. It was loud and high, but there was something really endearing about the way his eyes wrinkled and his whole face shone.
"How- How did you do that?", San said baffled.
"I am a ghost. I can go through walls and float around if I want to", Wooyoung giggled slightly.
"And you're really the boy from my school who died last year?"
"Indeed."
"But, But how is this possible? I thought supernatural things don't exist and are just created out of imagination... Am I going crazy?" San started walking through his room hastily.
"You're not going crazy. I couldn't believe it myself at first. I thought I was dead... and I still am somehow, but I am here and it confused me so much, but I kind of accepted it and since you saw me now I guess you have too, San. I am not capable of erasing memory sadly."
"How do you even know my name?"
"Uhm, do I have to tell you?", Wooyoung asked shyly. Since he was visible and thus in his human form he blushed and from San's reaction he could tell that the boy saw it.
"Yes, you have to. If you don't say it voluntarily then I'll get you to do it."
"Okay...", Wooyoung mumbled, but didn't seem to start answering the question anytime soon.
"You can sit down if you want", San said, pointing to his bed.
Wooyoung slowly sat down on the soft, comfortable sheets again. A soft whine of contentment left his mouth, which made San chuckle at him quietly.
"Hey, what's so funny?", Wooyoung asked, trying to act offended.
"You seem to really enjoy my bed. Don't you have ghost beds or something in the ghost world?"
"I wish there would be something like this, but no. We have nothing. Actually, we don't need it either because we don't need sleep. I don't have to eat or rest or go to the toilet. My existence is SO boring. I swear to god, I don't know what to do anymore besides-", Wooyoung stopped mid-sentence. He was just about to tell San that he was basically stalking the poor guy every day.
"Besides what? How do you spend your time then?", San pressed and sat down next to Wooyoung on the bed, cross-legged and facing the other boy.
"You know... uh.. that's like, kinda embarrassing, but I am by your side all the time", Wooyoung disclosed.
"You mean you are watching me?? Well, now I at least know why I felt like someone was following me every time I walked home. But... when I take a shower or something... you can't see through walls, can you...?"
The red tint of Wooyoung's face got even deeper. "NO, what the fuck! I- I can't see through walls and I also didn't go into the bathroom when you were in there nake-"
"Okay, yeah, cool", San interrupted him. This topic was way too embarrassing. "So, uhm, were you at school today too?"
"Yes, I was and I listened to the conversation you had with Mingi and Yunho at lunch."
"Oh my god, wait- Since you're here now - although I'm still not sure if I am awake or if this is just a very weird dream - you can tell me if the rumors Yunho heard are true. Did you get pushed by someone? Was it murder?", San asked enthusiastically. If crazy or not, he found this overly interesting and didn't want to waste the opportunity to play Sherlock Holmes for a bit.
"Oh, I'm sorry if this is a sensitive topic for you", he said after a few seconds of Wooyoung just staring at him but not saying a single word.
"Can I hug you?", the boy then asked suddenly.
"Uhm.. sure." San was confused about where this weird change of mood came from, but he spread his arms nonetheless.
Wooyoung shuffled forward on the bed until he could wrap his arms around the taller boy's waist. San, despite being surprised, put his arms around Wooyoung's shoulders and hugged him back. Silence set between them until the younger suddenly spoke up.
"I've wanted to do this ever since I saw you at school, you know? As a ghost I am not able to touch things or other people and they are not able to touch, see or hear me...", his voice got quieter with every word he said.
"But I can feel you now", San whispered. His mouth was close to Wooyoung's ear and the voice let a shiver run down his spine. The older probably didn't even notice their intimate position, but Wooyoung didn't mind. He was thankful that he was able to finally touch his crush after one year.
"I can make myself visible for one hour a day. During this time I'm practically a human, I need food and sleep and stuff... and others can feel and hear me too. Oh shit, I think my time is over in a minute", Wooyoung whined. "I don't want to go yet."
San pulled back from their embrace slightly to look the younger in the eyes. "But please answer me the question I asked you before. I really want to know."
Wooyoung couldn't resist the other boy's pleading puppy eyes and gave in.
"Well, yes, it is-"
And San was alone. The boy in his arms had disappeared.
