San woke up in confusion. He wasn't sure if everything that happened yesterday was actually real. He probably just had a very odd dream. Maybe his subconscious came up with all this ghost stuff because he had talked with Yunho and Mingi about the dead boy from school. Wooyoung.
Ghosts didn't exist. That wasn't possible. It was as simple as that.
But somehow, his dream felt so real. If that was the case and he had actually spoken to a fucking ghost the day before, he had to tell his friends.
Quickly, he got ready for school. He couldn't wait to tell them what happened, so he ran down the stairs at a monkey pace, grabbed a candy bar from the kitchen and dashed past his mom out of the door.
"I'm late!", he yelled when he was already in the front yard. That had to be enough as an explanation for his parents why he was so eager to go to school.
San rushed through the hallway until he found Yunho and Mingi eating each other in front of his locker.
"YAH, can you please not stick your tongues down each other's throat in front of my locker?? That's euww."
Reluctantly, Yunho and Mingi brought a little distance between each other.
"How dare you interrupt my meal?", Yunho asked, playfully crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Why do you always talk about each other like you're foods... Seriously, why am I even friends with you weird asses?", San groaned, shoving Yunho to the side to open his locker.
"Because you love us", Mingi said smirking.
"Sadly, you're right with that. Anyway, bitches, I have to tell you something really really interesting."
"What is it?", both his friends immediately lowered their voices to listen to what San had to say. They were always up for mysterious secrets.
"I talked to Wooyoung yesterday", San blurted out, realizing soon after how absurd this sounded.
The anticipation on his friend's faces changed to disappointment and then to confusion.
"Did you drink?", asked Mingi, sniffing his friend to find out if he smelled like alcohol.
"I did not drink! Why can't you take me seriously? I spoke to him and I even touched him!"
"That isn't possible, he's dead", Yunho stated, a sad expression shadowing his face.
"It is! Please, you have to believe me. I swear to god, I'm not crazy. He just suddenly was in my room and I couldn't believe it at first too, but he is a ghost. And he can make himself visible, but only for a short amount of time each day and-"
"Sannie...", Mingi said compassionately. "I think you should relax a little. Get some fresh air before class starts. And with that he pushed his friend towards the door and forced him to go outside.
San was hurt. He was sure his friends would believe him, but they just thought he was crazy or drank too much. He made his way towards a bench underneath a tree, sitting down with his head hanging low.
"Wooyoug?", he whispered to no one specific. "Are you here right now? Can you make yourself visible? I need someone to talk... oh, you probably can't because there are other people around..."
Feeling even more sad, San scraped his shoes across the floor in front of the bench. He watched the blades of grass break off.
A sudden wind to his left startled him.
"Wooyoung?", he asked, now a little bit louder, ignoring the weird stares he got from other students around him.
He didn't blame them. It looked like he was talking to himself, so people probably thought he was crazy.
"Just as my friends...", he mumbled towards himself.
San?
What? Who the fuck just called his name? Or did he just imagine it? The voice was so close that it seemed like it was in his head.
San, can you hear me? It's Wooyoung.
"Wooyoung!", San screamed happily. Now, the people around him awkwardly stepped a few steps away from him, but he didn't care. Wooyoung was in his head!
"How can you be in my head?", he whispered.
I'm not in your head, silly, I'm actually sitting next to you right now. I just somehow found out how to talk to you without making myself visible. I didn't even know I was able to do this. Also, you don't have to talk out loud, you can just think what you want to say and I will hear it.
"You can hear what I think??", the older blurted out.
Not everything. Just the things that you want me to hear, I guess. I don't know exactly, I'm also kind of new to this.
"My friends think I'm crazy, Woo."
Even though, he was in his ghost form, Wooyoung could feel a warm feeling creep up his cheeks at the nickname.
You're not crazy, San. I'm really here. I can make myself visible for you as soon as you're alone again...
The school bell interrupted Wooyoung's voice and made San let out a sigh.
"I have class, now, but... can you please stay by my side?", he asked quietly.
I will.
